My heart goes out to Phylis and Art's family. I cherish the time spent visiting with them through Chris while serving together. An absolutely great role model and patriot would fall short describing the esteem and respect I have for Art. Sending my love from Kentucky. Jason C.

I met Art back in 2008 when I became the Trap Captain at Oxford Gunclub, he was a character for sure but he was always a kind person. Oh and the stories too !!

Phylis and Art took us in as family and were our travel buddies. We always had a lot of fun and laughs. He was a tough man, but under that rough exterior Art, had a heart of gold. Crazy Old Man, these are the words I would use most often to describe Art. He was the first person I met when I first came to Maryland. I think Rich knew our relationship would work if I didn't go running for the hills after meeting him. I had met many other crazy old men in my day and new to just give the crap right back to them. Rich was very fond of Art and it took me a little while to truly understand why. He might have been a crazy old man that told many life stories, which you really never knew what to believe , but he was so much more. He was a man with a heart of gold. He knew how much I missed living near my family and did everything he could to make me feel like apart of theirs. He was one of the most knowledgeable men I've ever met. He was always eager to teach me new things, and educated me on the ways of Maryland life. He has taught me so much about fishing and hunting and we enjoyed sending each other pictures of the fish we had caught over the years. He taught me all about the Amish and where all the good food stands were and even took me to the auction, a memory I will never forget. He loved Juneau so much and was always willing to watch her, no questions asked. I am so great full for the love he showed for both of us.

He was a huge part of my life down here in Maryland and it just won't be the same without him here to banter with and share stories. Our time was cut short, but I am truly blessed to have called this man my friend. He truly lived a full life filled with lots of love and laughter.

Craze, I know you will be watching over us. I will make sure to keep slaying the fish just like you taught me and tell Willie how banging her food is. We miss you so much already.

I met Art twenty plus years ago and I have to admit, he drove me crazy. Then I figured him out. That hard nosed abrasive man would later become one of my best friends. A true friend that would do anything for me, and for my wife. We became part of the family. Art and Phylis, and my wife and I have traveled many miles together, had lots of laughs together, and of course ate lots of food together. The memories and stories will live on forever. His entertaining ways, the love for his family, and his wealth of knowledge was unmatched. For anyone who did not figure him out... deep down in, that hard nosed man had a heart of gold and would do anything for you. Most people will agree, there will never be another Art. We will miss him dearly. "Woo woo...fish on pop".

One of my favorite things was hearing Uncle Art's stories, and for my money nothing beats the story he would tell about getting caught "worm fishin'"!
