When I thought of Tavares, I would always think Chubby and Feliciano although they all shared lead on Check It Out and the rest of their albums. But when I heard Arthur´s voice with the lead on The Going Ups and The Coming Downs, it dawned on me that his voice was the stabilizer of Tavares´ harmonies. You and your brothers brought happiness to our lives for more than five decades. We thank you!

My heartfelt condolences are offered to the family, many, many friends, colleagues and devoted army fans of Mr. Arthur "Pooch" Tavares. Mr. Arthur "Pooch" Tavares was the lead singer for Grammy Award-winning R&B group Tavares, known for "Heaven Must Be Missing an Angel" and "More Than a Woman" from the "Saturday Night Fever" soundtrack. The Tavares had a No. 1 hit on their R&B charts with the Hall & Oates song, "She´s Gone." He was a very great tenor singer with an amazing voice. He was greatly admired by his fellow artists and all those who knew him. May the love and many, many special memories you shared with your devoted loved one show how much your life was touched by him. May the God of comfort bless your grieving hearts with strength, loving kindness and peace as the world copes with the loss of Mr. Arthur "Pooch" Tavares. May his music and legacy keep his memory alive forever.

Remembering Pooch from The Starlight Lounge in Peabody, Ma and still enjoying Tavares Brothers (The Turnpikes) all these years later. Fifty plus years have come and gone and still your special gift lives on. Rest in Peace in heaven - an angel for sure!!

It is so sad that the world has once again lost a gifted and talented artist who graced us with the smooth sounds of R&B music. The Tavares was a famous and well-known group during an era when singing groups were popular and their songs were number #1 on the music charts. "More Than a Woman" and Heaven Must Be Missing an Angel" will be part of music history for all eternity. There is no doubt that Arthur will be missed by all who knew him personally and professionally.
May you find comfort in knowing that those who have passed in death, God keeps in his memory because all are precious in his eyes. (Psalm 116:15). And even in times when there are no words, there's hope and comfort in knowing so many people are thinking of you and holding you close in their hearts.

Pooch, hurt my heart hearing we loss you, was always no nonsense, when I started going down docks looking for work, Pooch was first one to question my motives, I told him I was just here to work, he did me a huge favor and got me on the ship, eventually me and Pooch became very kool, he was definitely someone I respected, RIP Pooch, my condolences to the family and friends

I am writing to express my deepest condolences to you and your family upon hearing the news of Arthur Tavares' passing. As a disc jockey during the disco era, I had the pleasure of playing Tavares' records and even had the opportunity to meet the group on several occasions. Arthur's contributions to the music industry will always be remembered, and his loss is felt by many.
I cannot imagine the pain and sorrow that you and your family must be experiencing during this difficult time. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you all. I hope that the love and support of your family and friends will bring comfort and solace in the days ahead.

My name is Cynthia Davis-Harvey. I am from Phila Pa. I was born in 1947 so Pooch and I are around the same age. I like the brothers was an artist a dancer. We were trying to make a mark and like them I loved to perform. I first became a follower in the 70's when Heaven must be missing an angel came out. I have followed the family thru sad times and good times. I was impressed with Pooch's comments during interviews on TV and absolutely loved his voice. I felt he was all for family the way he supported Butch coming out of retirement to help with 24/7. I prayed for him when he had the the stroke and him and Cubby were in my heart when I recently saw Tavares at the Hard Rock Cafe in AC on my birthday this year Jan 20. My prayers go out to Cubby, Butch, Tiny and Pooch's wife and family.
May God comfort you and know that He is in control and loves us . God's peace be with you know that I am only one person alon with millions of others who loved Pooch.
