The first time I met her she was a beautiful baby then the next time we (Melody and I) saw her she was a beautiful, strong and confident young woman. The way she spoke with determination of her plans for her future moved me. She was happy last I saw her and I know she's at peace and happy now. With much love and respect to her essence, we are deeply saddened that her presence on this earth left a void in the hearts of all her knew and loved her. Ashanti came into my life as the angel that helped me care for my grandchildren. Each Tuesday and Thursday from October 2016-June 2017, Ashanti always arrived EARLY and was an active part of our lives and was dependable. She was a blessing to us and more than a babysitter. My oldest grandchild looked to Ashanti for advice and our family trusted her. She adored her "MOMMY" and always spoke about her mother and father as if she was the only person that had a mommy and daddy. She was always respectful addressing me as Yes, Maam, No Maam. After she moved to VA Beach for culinary school, my granddaughters and I visited her. She was so happy to be in culinary school fulfilling her dream and was proud of her new job. After spending the day at the beach and watching the eclipse, we had an early dinner and laughed and teased each other.
May God bless Mommy and Daddy and know that Ashanti loved and adored you. Your names were always on her lips and mind. Hold tight to memories for comfort, lean on your friends and family for strength, and always remember how much Ashanti loved you.
Ashanti, you came into our lives, left footprints on our hearts, and we will never the same.
