Ashby Bee Hoover

1930-2015

Ashby Bee Hoover, 84, passed away Saturday, January 17, 2015. Ash was born July 5, 1930 in Buckhannon, West Virginia, the only child of Frank and Elise Hoover. Ash was raised in Ohio. His career in finance and banking took him to Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Texas, Florida and Oklahoma. The last six years Ash resided at The Blake in Gulf Breeze, where he was a charter resident. The things that brought Ash the most joy were watching his Ohio State Buckeyes and Dallas Cowboys and spending time with family and friends. Music was especially fulfilling to Ash all of his life, especially while he was a resident at The Blake.

Ash was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Fran Hoover. He is survived by his three children, Cindy Gross (Terry), Chip Hoover (Terry) and Fritz Hoover (Susan), his two stepsons, Mike Harris (Nancy) and Thom Harris (Jennifer) and his grandchildren, Kiel, Rhett, Tyler, Haley, Jordan, Matt, Kendall, Peyton, Christina, Emily, Chad, Ashton and Blake.

The family wishes to express their sincerest gratitude to all the staff at The Blake, especially to those who cared for him his last two years in Memory Care.

A celebration of Ash's life will be held Sunday, January 25th from 12-3 p.m., at the home of his daughter, Cindy Gross. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Emerald Coast Hospice, 1555 N. Palafox St., Pensacola, Fla. 32501 or the charitable organization of your choice.

I have fond memories of Ash while he and my parents were at the Blake. My brother enjoyed taking him and my Dad to Dave's Oyster Bar. Sorry to hear of his passing.

Cindy, Chip and Fritz and entire family so sorry to hear of your Dad's passing. Know you will miss him and all that he taught you. I know that I learned plenty from him many years ago that I still use today. All he taught us, of course, will be his legacy of how he will live on in us in many ways.
My and our families thoughts are with you,
Tom Verploegen
