Rubin Freeman, 87, of Utica and formerly of Florida, passed away peacefully May 1, 2011, in the Presbyterian Home of CNY, following a courageous battle with Alzheimer's Disease. He was born on November 8, 1923, in Lodz, Poland, the son of the late Joseph and Chana Kolski Freeman. On May 1, 1945, he married the former Malka "Molle" Silberberg. The Freemans had a third son, Nathan, who succumbed to Muscular Dystrophy at the age of five and then had a daughter, Cindy. Mrs. Freeman passed away December 28, 1981. Rubin started his career as a peddler in Utica to learn the language and became a successful businessman by owning and operating H. Freeman, Inc., Utica. He was an active member in the Jewish community, where he was a member of Congregation Zvi Jacob, Justin Rathbone Lodge #219 Knights of Pythias, Moriah Lodge #958 F & AM, Jonathan Lodge #944 IOOF, Temple Beth Shalom, Coconut, FL, and the Holocaust Survivors of South Florida. Michael, Cindy, and Henry,
Just heard the news of your father's death. I remember him and your mother fondly. I have very wonderful memories of your parents and grandparents from our days at Tifereth Zvi. Even though I don't get to Utica I still feel close to the "shul" family.
May all of your good memories sustain you all during these difficult days.

Fondly,
Esther(Wineburgh) Rothkopf
