Aubrey was a fine, gentle man. He lived with solid values as a father, friend and teacher. Aubrey was very proud of his chldren and grandchildren. Aubrey and Judy were long time family friends who enjoyed Saskatoon berry picking, fish and chips at Regina Beach and Christmas gatherings. Aubrey was always a good listener with wise family advise. Aubrey loved teaching. He was a leader in vocational counseling in the Regina high school system. He helped establish Cochrane High School on Gordon Curry's team, setting up the student work placement program. Aubrey loved athletics, played for the Regina Pats, and coached his children to pursue sports. On February 8, the Monday Night Fiddlers played a concert at Aubrey's residence, the Wintergreene Estates. We dedicated the last song, "Til We Meet Again" to Aubrey. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered. Jack Mitchell and family

I will always remember Mr. Burlock fondly as one of my favourite teachers. He taught me in grade 6 at MacNeill School in his final year before retirement. We all loved listening to the famous "Mr. Burlock" stories in which he taught us all sorts of life lessons. He had a gift for connecting with each and every one of his students and pushing us to give our very best. Quite a few years back I wrote him a letter letting him know just how influential he was in my life and he wrote a lovely reply remembering exactly who I was and even where I sat in the classroom (a detail I had long forgotten).

Dear Family,
I wish to send my deepest sympathy at this difficult time for your family. Aubrey was one of my Gr. 8 Teachers at Marion McVeety School 68/69. He was very much liked and respected by all of my classmates. One memory I have of him is that he often challenged us to be our best, show leadership, and be proud of ourselves for our achievements. Infact, I would say he motivated and inspired me to become a middle years teacher myself. I remember phoning him at his last school to congratulate him on his retirement. He was very thankful for the call. Aubrey was one of those teachers one never forgets.

I first met Aubrey when I was teaching at M.J.Coldwell, my very first assignment, where Randa was in Jack Braun's classroom and Brett in mine. Aubrey was so encouraging, even though I was so novice (an understatement in both regards). The very next year at Cochrane High School, Aubrey and I were colleagues. Aubrey was the heart of Cochrane, ever student-centred and ever praising of new teachers. Like they say in the hockey world (Aubrey played for the Regina Pats), Aubrey was a GOOD GUY!

As a first-time teacher, Aubrey was the very first parent I met (I was assigned to M.J.Coldwell ... Randa was in Mr. Braun's class and Brett was in mine). Though I was a novice in the classroom, Aubrey praised and encouraged me the whole time I was there. As it happened, we later became colleagues at Cochrane High School ... where he continued to praise and encourage me. I've only fond memories of Aubrey and Judy and Randa and Brett (I didn't know Brad but ... Aubrey mentioned him lots).
As they say in the hockey world (Aubrey was a former Regina Pat) ... Aubrey was a good guy!

Dear Randa, Brett and Brad
Your Dad and Mom were always so good to myself and to our entire family while growing up in Regina and I have so many fond memories over the years. I always enjoyed chatting with him about hockey and when I'd return home we'd all go out for a golf game and chat more hockey. When we lost my mom, I will never forget the comforting words and support they both gave myself and my family. Our sincerest condolences to all of you during this time. Noah Brooks & Tannis McLaren

We double dated with Judy and Aub in our teen years. We had lots of fun together, parties, dances and Oscars Drive-in. Spent lots of time at Blight's gardens "chatting".!? We were part of each other's weddings. We remained lifelong friends and mourned the loss of Judy. Aub adored Judy and I believe their spiritual bond lasted til they were rejoined in heaven. Our sympathy to their loving children and grandchildren. Love, Rick and Karen

Dear Family,
It was a wonderful experience knowing your mom and dad for all these years, since 1969. I know that your dad had such a profound impact upon the students he taught. He cared for them and they in turn respected him. Randa, send me an email sometime. My hard drive ate many, including yours.

Aubrey Burlock was my Grade 6 teacher at Albert School and was forever after known as my favourite teacher! During my own 35 year teaching career I often thought of him and strived to treat all students with the same caring, respectful, kindness that he gave to all his students. At the same time he challenged us to be real thinkers and aware of the world around us and prepared us to face issues in the real world. I then got to know his family when I became their babysitter. Of course it was no surprise he had the most wonderful wife, Judy and they raised 3 awesome children!! The same loving caring kindness that I experienced in his classroom was also at the core of their family life! I am so saddened to hear of his passing, I always had the intension to tell him how much he has meant to me since 1st meeting him over 50 years ago!! My deepest condolences to Randa, Brett Brad and your families. I know you will share many wonderful memories of your dad.

Taught me grade 6 at Assiniboine school, Lakeview, in the early 60's. Best teacher I ever had. I still use the nail clipper/folding knife combo in a pigskin case he gave me at the end of the school year. My sincere condolences to the family.
