Audra Metz Poage, age 98 of Roanoke was called home to be with the Father and her loved ones on Sunday, March 1, 2020. She was born in Pulaski County on December 3, 1921, daughter of the late Charles E. McCoy and Reba A. Harkrader McCoy. Audra was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Ira H. Poage; sisters, Ruth L. McCoy and Lois Akers Wilson; brother, John A. Akers.
Audra moved from Pulaski County in 1949 to Roanoke the day they raised the star on Mill Mountain and she would laugh and say they raised the star for her. She never met a stranger and loved all she came in contact with during her journey. Audra worked for several local businesses, but her favorite and most challenging job was at the Radford Arsenal when she was younger. She loved spending the summers with her husband camping with friends in Nags Head, NC. She was a member of Haran Baptist Church where she worshipped with fellow friends.
A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, March 5, 2020 at Oakey’s South Chapel with Rev. Don Summerville officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin, VA. A visitation time will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Oakey’s South Chapel. Online condolences may be at www.oakeys.com.

Awww Mrs. Audra... You have finally entered God's kingdom and you're reunited with your husband. Our short time together was well spent. Hopefully you left us feeling the same. May you RIP for eternity and I'll see you again one day. Love always, Princess (Angel in your words)

Audra and Ira were two special people and was loved and respected by everyone who knew them. They were two friends since we opened our campground at OWC 35 years ago and will be in hearts forever.
