Audrey Reed Elliott

Audrey Reed Elliott, 94, longtime resident of Curry County, passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2007, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, in Virginia, where she had resided the past five years. She was born in Johnson County, Kan., to Clayton and Mattie Reed, who were early settlers in Clovis.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William E. "Bill" Elliott. While raising a family she worked as bookkeeper in their businesses, Elliott-Bell Auto Supply and Elliott Auto Parts in Clovis and Lakeside Trailer Park and Tackle Shop at Ute Lake, N.M. After her husband's death in 1972, she kept the office for her son, Jim, at Motor Lab in Clovis where she enjoyed her work with the employees and visiting with many old friends. A devoted mother, gifted writer and avid historian, she left for her children and theirs, a treasury of her writings and poetry and detailed family histories of both sides of the family, the Elliotts and Reeds. Her family and friends will have many memories of her sharing her home for meals or an evening with her musical family and her joy in sharing them. She was a member of Parkland Baptist Church where she was a substitute Sunday School teacher.
She was also preceded in death by beloved family members, great-granddaughter, Brandi Kelley; parents, Clayton and Mattie Reed; brothers, Torrence and Bob Reed; and sisters, Allene Murray and Mary Bell.
She is survived by her two sons, Jim (Lola Bell) Elliott, of Fort Sumner and Phill (Connie) Elliott, of Brenham Texas; two daughters, Nancy (Jim) Sluis and Barbara Tomsco, of Marshall, Va.; four grandchildren, Clayton (Nina) Elliott, of Thrall Texas, Jamie (James) Williams, of Corpus Christi, Texas, Leslie (Blake) Scott, of Round Rock, Texas and Scott (Melissa) Elliott, of Brenham, Texas; and seven great-grandchildren, Brian, David, Ashley, Stephanie and Matthew Williams and Michael and Nicolas Kelley.
Graveside services will be held 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 27, 2007, at Mission Garden of Memories with Pastor Doug Brooks officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lighthouse Mission PO Box 297 Clovis, NM 88102-0297.
