Mrs. Longhurst was one of those teachers that helped kids through her teaching of the actual curriculum as well as in her more informal interactions. Over three decades later, I vividly remember activities in her room like growing peanut plants in science, creating a mural that used the whole chalkboard at Easter, and sewing thread over the various geometric shapes that I had combined to make an image of a car in Math. I also remember her caring and urgency about positive life lessons. The most salient of those in my mind is the idea that deep friendship is hard to find and that, like her, we should count ourselves lucky if we have it. Thanks, Mrs. Longhurst, for truly giving of yourself for your students' benefit.

We all have that one teacher in our childhood that is most memorable and cherished. Mrs Longhurst was that one teacher to me and generations of other young minds at St Ann School. To this day I still remember and use many of the math "tricks" that she taught me 29 years ago. Many of our 7th grade class of 1985/1986 still remain close friends today and we fondly look back and remember so many of the hilarious stories she told us over the years. Thank you Mrs Longhurst for not only the academic excellence you encouraged all of us to achieve, but also for the life lessons you taught us all. Your memory will live on in the hearts and minds of all of your students. My condolences to the entire Longhurst family.

Many prayers to the Longhurst family. I had the privilege of being taught by this wonderful lady almost 30 years ago and feel honored to have known her.

Audrey was one of my dearest friends in the world. I don't think I've ever known or met anyone that was as beautiful, loving, and caring as she was. In essence, she was family to me, at times the voice of God over me, and always showed me what true unconditional love was, like I've never experienced before. While the loss is great, I totally understand why God would want her with Him. I truly believe there are angels among us and she had to be one cause she represented that better than anyone. My life will be forever impacted by her and I can honestly say I'm a better person having known her. I thank God that He blessed me with her friendship for as long as He did.
I will always love you Audrey and never forget all that we shared, what you taught me, and those wonderful talks we had. You will be missed!
To the rest of the family, I love each of you as well, you've always been so good to me and welcomed me as one of your own. I know how deep a loss this is for you as she was the rock. I'm praying for everyone's healing and comfort and a peace that only God can provide. Much love to you all!

Mrs. Longhurst was my 7th grade teacher in 1985. I am hard pressed to even name any of my high school or elementary school teachers, but I will never forget Audrey Longhurst and the impact she made on my life. She was tough yet compassionate, wise yet humble, and very, very funny. I have not seen her in over 20 years, but I will always treasure her memory.
