Audrey L. Robinson

(Gibson) August 24, 1915-June 28, 2008 Resident of Oakland Audrey Lucinda Robinson, a fourth generation Californian, passed away after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. Audrey taught kindergarten at Thornhill School for many years and retired in 1976. She later worked for the Ombudsmen, Inc. for eight years. Audrey was dedicated to preserving the history of African Americans in the City of Oakland. After retirement she volunteered with the African American Museum and Library of Oakland (AAMLO) and as a history docent for nineteen years at the Oakland Museum. Audrey was a third generation parishioner at St. Augustine's Episcopal Church in Oakland where for many years she was Sunday School Superintendent and active with St. Monnica's Guild. A loyal, life time member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Berkeley Bay Area Alumnae Chapter, she continued to be active until her health problems made it impossible. Audrey was pre-deceased by her husband, a WW II fatality, and her son. She is survived by her daughter, Jeri, her grandson Frederick and two great grandsons along with many relatives and cherished friends. Visitation on Wednesday, July 9 2008, 12noon - 3 PM at Fouche's Hudson Funeral Home, 36th & Telegraph in Oakland. Omega Omega service will take place on Wednesday, July 9, 2008 from 6 - 7 PM at St. Augustine's Episcopal Church, 29th St. & Telegraph Ave. Oakland and funeral service on Thursday, July 10, 2008 at 11 AM at St. Augustine's.
