Audrey Stanton Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jul. 10 to Jul. 16, 2023.
On June 22, 2023, Audrey (Audi) Stanton passed away peacefully in her sleep. Daughter of John and Myrtle Hill, Audi grew up with her siblings, Dorothy, Jack and Larry in Chicago, Illinois. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 26 years, Chuck Stanton.

Audi was employed with the State of California as a Graphic Designer for thirty years, specializing in publication design and illustration with many of her pieces being sold through the California State Parks Store.

From an early age, she had a keen interest in making art. Audi studied Fine Arts and Graphic Design at the American Academy of Art in Chicago, Elmhurst College in Chicago, and the Academy of Art in San Francisco. She studied with Sacramento's popular figurative artist, Jerald Silva. Audi's favorite media were watercolor and oil, and she was particularly interested in the effective use of color and texture. She was a member of the Artists' Collaborative Gallery in Old Sacramento for 17 years where she sold her work. Her art was also featured and sold at the Manley Art Center and Wright's Custom Framing in Brookings, Oregon. Audi was a member of many Art Associations and Societies. Her beautiful, awe-inspiring work was also shown and sold at other art galleries and art exhibition shows where she also collected significant awards.

Audi had a passion for teaching and sharing her love of art with others. She taught at her home studios when she lived in Sacramento, Elk Grove, and Brookings, in addition to local art centers and galleries. Her recent teachings were offered to her church family at St. Peters By-The-Sea Presbyterian Church in Huntington Beach, CA where she was teaching weekly art classes all the way up to her untimely passing.

Audi moved to San Francisco in 1959 where she met and married her first husband, Larry Baunach, in 1961. In 1968, Audi and her three little girls made their way to Sacramento, CA where they moved in with one of her closest friends and her three children. Audi found love again and married Chuck Stanton in 1985. She and Chuck resided in Elk Grove, CA, and in 2000, moved to their dream home overlooking the ocean in Brookings, Oregon where she loved to paint the fishing boats and beach scenery. In 2018, Audi moved to Huntington Beach to be closer to family and quickly established her home with her church, neighbors, and the "lunch bunch". Her final days were spent close to loved ones in Valencia, CA.

Audi is survived by her three daughters, Jennifer (Tom); Katie (Michael); and Maddy aka Robin (Paul); four grandchildren, Taylor; Mary (David); Bailey; and Jordan; one great grandson (Jackson); her siblings; plus many cousins, extended family, friends, and art students.

A woman of tremendous faith, Audi devoted her time, love, and energy to local churches no matter where she lived. At the time of her passing, she was serving as a deacon, art teacher, and an active volunteer on many church committees at St. Peters. Her love for the Lord and her family were her top priorities. Her amazing spirit, devoted soul, and her love for family, the ocean, and trees and birds will forever be cherished.

Audi's family would like to share special appreciation and gratitude to the many health care workers who worked so hard to care for her. "The meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away." Pablo Picasso. A Celebration of Life will be held for Audi on Saturday, September 2, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. at Greenhaven Neighborhood Church, 630 Ark Way, Sacramento, CA 95831.

Audi was a dear friend in Brookings, OR and I only found out today of her passing. I helped her pack her beautiful paintings and empty her home for the move to Huntington Beach. We had many lunches and laughs during the process. I enjoyed every moment of that adventure. I'm so glad she was able to spend the past years with her family. I cherish her smile and creative energy. I'm sure she's in heaven painting the beautiful sunrises.
