Anybody who loves the N&W is my dear friend regardless of whether I have met them. I consider Mr. Thieme to be such. Reckon he is at the throttle... Of course, the signals in heaven are CPLs.

I will always be grateful to Mr. Thieme for taking all those wonderful railroad photographs and movies. I've enjoyed them very much over the years. I'm sadden to see him leave.

August Thieme very graciously helped me with a book project some years ago, and I had the privilege of helping him with his own.

He was an outstanding railroad photographer and a terrific human being.

I came to work on Monday, and on my desk was Gus' timesheet. I had barely entered it when I heard the news. I'll miss you Gus, your smile, your kind words. Be at peace and know that you will be missed

I am so thankful for his assistance in finding railroad photos back in the 1990s. Knowing now about his love of dogs makes me sad that I didn't knowing him better. Thank you for being you!

we worked with Gus for many years at Froehling & Robertson. We will miss his professionalism as well as his stories about the railroad, his dogs and his home. He was a special man.

One of the kindest people I have ever known. I so enjoyed spending time with him talking about the dogs. My prayers are with his family and friends.
