Augustine Maciel

Augie Maciel born and raised in Oxnard, CA on August 20th 1972 to Christina and Augustine Maciel. He was the first born of four sons.

Augie passed away on October 2, 2022 at the age of 50, in Ventura, CA.

His battle with serious medical issues in recent years showed his courage in facing health issues with a smile. Despite the pain, Augie battled until the very end and as always came out a winner and stayed strong with his family at his bedside. We are grateful for all of you.

Augie grew up in a loving family home, playing little league with his brothers for Sunset little league. He and his family spent endless time there between the four boys, and yes, they always made All -Stars too! He grew up in the Catholic Church and attended Saint Anthony's elementary school and Santa Clara High School.

Eventually he went on to play high school football and baseball at Santa Clara High where he graduated with the class of 1990.

That is where Augie met the love of his life Lisa during their senior year of high school. They married and had a beautiful 27-year marriage. They supported one another every step of the way. Together they had five beautiful children

Augie adored and loved his family, there was nothing he wouldn't do for his wife, children or granddaughters. He had his own special bond with each and every one of them.

As a child, Augie proclaimed that he wanted to become a coach when he grew up. This dream was fulfilled when he started coaching his own sons in the community where he grew up in.

He leaves behind his Loving Wife Lisa, five amazing children AJ, Andre, Autumn, Austin and Auburn and two adorable granddaughters Sofia and Alena. Father Augie Sr., three brothers, Armando (Maggie), Andrew (Faviola), and Adrian (Jessica) Maciel. Along with his godchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, godparents, and father & mother in law Alfred & Rachel Nicolas.

He is proceeded in death by his Mother Christina Maciel, his grandparents Manuel Marquez, Dolores Rivera, Ruth & Augustine Maciel, and his Tio Manuel Marquez (Squeak)!

Augs, you will always be remembered for your smile, laughter, kindness, love and dedication to your family and community. We will always honor and love the life you provided. Your legacy as a husband, father, and Papa will live on forever. We love you with all of our hearts.

Visitation will be held on Monday, October 17, 2022 from 4:00pm to 6:00pm at Garcia Mortuary, 629 South "A" Street, Oxnard, CA. Rosary will follow at 6:30pm. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at 10:00am at St. Anthony's Church, 2511 South "C" Street in Oxnard, CA. Follow with Interment at Santa Clara Cemetery, 2370 N. "H" Street, Oxnard, CA.
