Happy Birthday Avery!!
(We are Seven)
I dedicate this in memory of my brother Avery Austin Clenney, who was born number three out of seven. Avery, the son of Ann Elizabeth Crow and George Edward Clenney, Sr.
A Life Path expressed in true Colors - the essence of genuineness. As Avery got older, he continued to live the life of a true Southern gentleman. Grace and style!
My fond memories include seeing him as a collegiate wearing plaid, fraternity brothers/University of Alabama, yellow Cutlass cruising, funny, smart, and softly sneaky, Ray Charles, equestrian enthusiast; and the only brother to have called me by his given nickname (Brigitte) before I was age twelve.
Avery must have had a strong sense throughout his life that his entire family admired him. He was looked up to by both of his brothers, four sisters, and first cousins simply for being Avery! Humble.!!
Avery was given the full name of my mother´s father. He honored the heritage well... Avery, became an entrepreneur and advisor to the family bus company Trailways. Avery's affection and support for mom was endless and grew stronger as she grew older.
Even though he started his family after graduating from college, time and distance never dimmed my love and admiration for having such a brother in my life.
Avery´s characteristics and soul are irreplaceable - he is deeply missed.
I love so much - prayers and I will remember you always.

I have so many great memories of my brother because he was such an amazing example of what it meant to have integrity, character and style! But probably some of my fondest memories are sitting on his handlebars while he pedaled us to the stable where he would work his horse and give me my regular lesson(s)! And going down a steep embankment while on a small pony and Avery on a horse 16.2 hands, and him laughing while my pony was sinking in the soft dirt up to the bottom of my stirrups while he's telling me to lean back!!! Oh the fun we had!!!! I should also mention the night Avery & George & mates all went on a night time raid and I was supposed to let them in the downstairs, back door when they returned!! When they banged on the door it scared me so I ran and got my mother!! Poor guys got busted for being out at night without permission!! Sorry! Yes he was a great brother!

Avery was a good person and a good Christian and I am proud to have had him as a brother. When I graduated from high school, Avery stepped in as my father role and urged me to continue on to college, get a job, buy life insurance, etc., etc. He was a traditionalist an a great role model for a young man. He taught me to ride horses, he taught me to be a gentleman and he taught me manners! More than anything he taught me to strive to do "what's right." Avery is survived by loving brother and sisters, Carol Henderson of Myrtle Beach, SC, Ann Clenney of Centreville, VA, David Clenney of Alexandria, VA, Ruth McCarthy of Sterling, VA and Mary Clenney of Montgomery, AL.

I had the unforgettable pleasure of meeting Avery in the mid 90's when he was doing outreach for United Way. His sincerity and kind manner left a lasting impression, he was such a motivator. I'm so sorry to learn of his passing. The world needs more great men like Avery. My deep condolences to his family and all loved ones.

Karen and family, it is with heartfelt sympathy that Caroline and I learned about Avery's passing away. I have always enjoyed his friendship in the Chiselers, and playing in foursome's with him. His locker was just down from mine and he always had a kind word to say when we greeted each other. Wishing you and your family comfort during this difficult time.

Over the years, I have worked with Avery hundreds of times. We have done many deals together and solved many problems together.
Avery was always very professional with a quiet demeaner. It seemed that nothing rattled him.
He was very fair to his tenants and was a hard worker.
I know Avery was a man of faith and it showed in everything he did.
Our prayers and thoughts go to his family.
