Mr. Emmett, Andy, Patrick, and Sharon,
Growing up in Goodyear Baptist Church and visiting your mother with Julia Calvin and my mother, leaves me with many fond memories of Ms. Avis. I offer my deepest sympathy in your loss of her. She was a beautiful lady and a wonderful Christian who will be missed sorely.

Ms Avis, was the one person that I know that went to any means to make you feal that you were important. She would take any child to church or Vac. Bible School. They don't come any better than Ms Avis.
She will be truly missed and my life has been a better because she was a part of it. All my love to her family. God Bless You All

We had the pleasure of meeting Mrs. Hayes a couple of times at Andy's shop in Slidell. She was always smiling with a warm welcome for everyone.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family, Andy. May the light of her love shine on forever in your heart.

Mr. Hayes, Andy, Pat & Sharon, I am so sorry of the loss of Mrs. Hayes. I just found out and I know she will be sadly missed. She was a very sweet and kind person. She always spoke to you anywhere. I wish I could have seen all of you during your time of sorrow and hopefully I will soon. I know there is nobody that loves you like your Mother... No Love can replace it. Andy, Please call me if ever you want to talk. I still miss my Mother just as much today as I did in 2002. There is not a day goes by that I don't think of her. Now I smile when she is in my thoughts. I Love all of you and my heart and prayers are with each of you in this time of your lives.
Sincerely,
Jackie Seal Burns

Mr Emmet;
I was so sad to hear that Ms Avis had passed. She was one of the sweetest people I have ever known. I used to see her when she would visit our friend, Ms. Pauline. I lived across the street. I will never forget the night at the hospital when we stayed there with Ms. Pauline before she went to be with the Lord. Ms Avis, Emmet and I were there with her. Ms. Pauline always talked about what a true and caring friend she was and I got to see that myself. A person is lucky to have a freind like Ms. Avis in their life. May God comfort you in this time of loss of your dear Avis.

My husband and I didn't have the honor of knowing Mrs. Hayes, but we do know Andy. We know him to be a kind and generous person. So, to the family, we wanted to say that this wonderful lady has left a lasting legacy through her child, and made a difference in this world. Our hearts go out to all of you.

Mr. Hayes,
I knew Mrs. Hayes when I was a child growing up. My aunt, Ruth Hall, worked with her at Goodwill. It must have been almost 15 years since I had last seen her and then I saw you guys at the Picayune Street Fair a few months ago. I could not believe she remembered me after all those years and she was still the same sweet Mrs. Hayes. She is really going to be missed!

Mr. Hayes,
I worked as Mrs. Hayes’ assistant at the Picayune Goodwill Store from 1984 until her retirement. Working with her was a true joy! She was a beautiful person who will be greatly missed. May God bless you and your family.

Mr. Hayes, I am so very sorry for your loss. Ms. Avis was one of my grandmother, Helen Brayson's dearest friends. I can remember many summer days my sister and I visited them at work. She always had a warm smile and tender touch. Please know that you and the family will be in my thougths.

Mr. Hayes,
Mrs. Hayes will always be remembered to everyone as the kind, caring & loving person she was. She was such a sweet neighbor. I will never forget when we first moved into the neighborhood and the first time we met her (almost 10 years ago) & how you both welcomed us into the neighborhood. She was always so caring to my children when they were growing up. My (now) 1-1/2 year old grandson really loved stopping to see her or wave hello to her during our evening walks when we pass by your house, those days will always be remembered. She is an angel in Heaven now & she will never will be forgotten! God Bless you & your family. Tina Frey & family

As Avis would probably have told you and snickered, I am never at a loss for words. But her leaving us has taken the wind out of my sails. She was a most caring person; the most caring I have ever met. Above all, and most precious is that she was one of the most Christian women I have met or ever will meet. I love her dearly. And I love her not for all that she did for my family, which I have to mention: She was always there, in time of trouble, happiness, need, and terrible sorrow. She has been apart of our family for as long as I can remember. She has been the Best Friend to my mother for many, many years. But what I remember most, is the way she would take care of my grandmother when my mother needed her to. My grandmother in her last days of her life, knew Avis when she didn't even know her own grandchildren. She has stood by us through thick and thin and we will miss her. But what I will miss the most and what I love her the most for, is knowing that she loved Jesus. She lived it. Now we will have to live without that example. May God Bless Emmett (Mr. Hayes) and her family. She will be missed.
