Aviud Cesena

Aviud "Avi" Ceseña, born Aviud Flores on February 11, 1934, in Guanajuato, Mexico, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2025, in San Diego, California, at the age of 91. Her long and vibrant life was marked by deep faith, unwavering love for her family, and a joyful spirit that touched all who knew her.

Aviud began her early years in Guanajuato, where she was raised by her parents Donaciano Flores and Maria Arredondo de Flores. She later pursued nursing school, demonstrating a natural inclination toward care and compassion. However, she ultimately chose to dedicate herself fully to what she considered her most important vocation-being a full-time mother to her two sons. This decision would become one of the defining aspects of her life.

She married Jose Ceseña, with whom she built a loving home and shared many cherished years until his passing. Together they raised two sons, Jose Alejandro and Cedric Ceseña-both of whom went on to become accomplished professionals. Aviud's devotion to her children was steadfast; she nurtured them with strength, wisdom, and an enduring sense of humor that became one of her hallmarks.

Her role as a grandmother brought her immense joy. She delighted in spending time with her grandchildren-Alexa Marie Ceseña, Maria Isabella Ceseña, Abigail Ceseña, Amaya Ceseña, and Joshua Ceseña offering them not only affection but also guidance rooted in faith and experience. Her prayers often included each of their names as she asked for blessings over their lives.

A devout Catholic throughout her life, Aviud maintained a close relationship with the Lord. Her faith was not only personal but also deeply communal; she regularly offered blessings and well wishes to those around her. Her words were often laced with both spiritual depth and a unique sense of humor that made them memorable and comforting.

Aviud lived independently well into her nineties-a testament to her resilience and vitality. She found joy in decorating her apartment with warmth and style that reflected her personality. Gardening was another passion; tending to plants brought peace to her days and beauty to her surroundings. But above all else, it was time spent with family-her sons, grandchildren, siblings Olivia Araujo and Goliath Flores-and dear friends that filled her heart most.

She is also remembered fondly by many nieces and nephews who were touched by her kindness and generosity over the years. Though preceded in death by several beloved siblings-Carmen, Eleazar, Bernardo, Obed, Ruth, Donaciano Jr., and Fernando-their memories remained alive in Aviud's stories and prayers.

To honor Aviud's remarkable life, a memorial gathering will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Legacy Funeral Home located at 7043 University Avenue in La Mesa, California (91942). Please join us for a prayer service and a time to celebrate the life of this incredible woman.
