Barbara was ever kind, encouraging and motivating to her tennis girls. I was blessed as a mom to have a daughter on her team. She was more than the coach, she WAS girls tennis at SHS and the girls are richer for it!

I ran into Mrs. Blanton about three years ago at a Summerville High football game and it was the first time I've seen her in about 20 years. Even with the passing of time, she still remembered my name and she still was the same sweet person I remembered from my high school days. My prayers go out to the Blanton family. Mrs. Blanton was truly a pillar to the community and she will be missed by all who had the opportunity of knowing her.

To the Blanton's & their family and friends:

Matt and I were saddened to hear of Mrs. Blanton's passing. She was an awesome lady and teacher - I was privelaged to have her when I was in high school. She always listed to her students and was there if we needed anything....even after we all graduated she always said hello and wanted to know how life had been treating us:-) She will be missed dearly by many.

Dear Coach Blanton,
I am terrible sorry to hear about Mrs. Blanton. She was always one of the sweetest ladies I'd ever known. She always maintain the enthusiasm of a young athelete whenever I saw her, and it was hard to call her Mrs. Blanton and not Barbara. I have always had great respect for you both and felt like another one of the Blanton boys whenever I was at your home, which was alot when I was young. I can only imagine how much the Blanton Men and grandchildren will miss her. But as I have seen with age, peoples memories only seem to get stronger over time regarding the kind and special people in our lives. I can honestly say that that certain applies to her. Again, my sincerest sorrow and sympathy for you and your dynamic family.
Sincerely,
Tommy

Mrs. Blanton coached me on the Summerville High tennis team. She was an amazing person and Coach. When I became pregnant in high school (during tennis season) she was so incredibly supportive. She allowed me to finish out the season and prayed with me. I can remember her tears when I told her and her undeniable support in the months and years to come. A testimony to the kind of person Coach Blanton was.

My condolences and prayers to the entire Blanton family. She will be missed.

We were very saddened to hear about your mother's passing. She was someone that really lived every day to the fullest. While I know that words are only a small gesture of support, I want you to know that her spirit has touched many people's lives as it has mine. I had many conversations with Barbara while at Miler, all of which were positive advice and encouraging. She often mentioned how much her family meant to her and how blessed she was to have you all. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

My deepest sympathy and love to you all,

To Bo and the rest of the Blanton family. We go way back and Mrs. Blanton played apart of my life from an early age as a summer tutor, mother of a good friend, great customer of mine (T&T Sports)and a nice lady who was always genuinely nice to me. She seemed to always put her family and students first. What a great supporter to the Greenwave family and community. Though I have moved away, the memories I have and still share of those great days of growing up in Summerville will go on forever. Although she will be missed, her life will be shared for many days to come. May God Bless.

Mrs. B made tennis season something to be enjoyed to the fullest and she made no secret of the fact that she so loved her team members. They in turn made no secret of the love they had for her. The world is just a little less fun without her in it, but heaven must be rockin. The Sires Family

My condolences to the Blanton family...my association with Barbara at Gregg Campus and then at SHS when the two campuses combined fostered within me a great deal of respect for her...respect which she earned through her commitment to Dorchester District Two schools, athletics and the kids she taught. She was a genuine "what you see is what you get" lady...I always admired that about her. I am sad to hear that she will no longer walk among us, but I celebrate her life and her impact on those whose lives she touched so deeply as an educator at Summerville. She leaves quite a legacy!
