Barbara Boyd Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jan. 3 to Jan. 14, 2014.
Barbara Ann Boyd, age 79, of East Tawas, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 30, 2013 at Lakeview Manor Healthcare Center after a brief battle with cancer.
Barbara was born in Detroit on January 18, 1934 to William and Ruth (Wimble) Balow. She graduated from Utica High School in the class of 1952, and soon after, married her best friend, Charles "Chuck" C. Boyd, on November 7, 1953. They were married 59 years until Chuck's passing on January 7, 2013. Together they ran Boyd's Resort, a half-mile north of the AuSable River on M-65 for more than 30 years.
Barbara was a warm and generous person to everyone. She was an avid University of Michigan sports fan as well as a frustrated but devoted and passionate Detroit Lions fan. Barbara enjoyed golfing, bowling, reading, crocheting, knitting, and gardening. Most importantly though, she absolutely adored and cherished her grandchildren.
Barbara is survived by her two loving children, son, Charles (Turi) Boyd, Jr. of Grand Blanc, and Ruth (Bob) Bingle of Tawas City; six grandchildren, William (Ayla) Boyd, Scott Boyd, Tom Boyd, Phillip Boyd, Bobby (Amanda) Bingle, and Chrissy (Jeff) Mertz; four brothers, Clifford (Joyce) Balow of Mt. Clemens, Elmer Balow of Houghton Lake, Roy (Linda) Clason of Phoenix, Arizona, and Gary (Carol) Clason of Los Angeles, California; one sister, Shirley (Bob) Zaetta of Plymouth, Michigan; one brother-in-law, George (Phyllis) Boyd in Lakeland, Florida; many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Barbara is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Boyd; her parents, William and Ruth Balow; her step father, Roy Clason; sister-in-law, Marge Swarthout; and a brother-in-law, William Boyd.
Per her wishes, cremation has taken place and her family will welcome friends for a time of remembrance at the Buresh Funeral Home in Tawas City on Saturday, January 4, 2014 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. A burial will take place at a later date in the Glennie Cemetery.
