Barbara L "Bobbie" Buckley, age 94, passed away at Gull Creek in Berlin, MD on Tuesday, January 3, 2023. Born in Vienna, MD, she was the daughter of the late Percy LeCompte and Olga Kemp LeCompte.
After graduating from Vienna High School, Bobbie began her adventure at age 17 when she took the ferry across the Chesapeake Bay and moved to Washington, DC, to begin working in the Fingerprint Identification Department of the FBI. It was there that she met her husband, Rush Buckley, Jr. The couple moved to Falls Church, VA, where they raised their three children and were active in their kids' sports and other extracurricular activities. After Rush's retirement, they moved to Ocean Pines, MD, where they played golf, and enjoyed boating, traveling, and many social activities.
She is survived by her son Ronald R Buckley (Barbara) and her 2 daughters, Sandra B Treadway and Angela B Barton (Michael). She is also survived by her grandchildren: Ken Treadway, Kevin Treadway (Lisa), Brittany Salup (Adam), Meredith Hahn (Brian), and Jordan Barton (Caylee). She leaves behind 3 great-grandchildren: Lydia Barton, Lane Barton, and Dawson Hahn.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years Rush Buckley, Jr., her brothers, Percy LeCompte, Jr, Joseph LeCompte, Edward LeCompte, and Gary LeCompte, and her sister, Hannah Adkins.
The family plans to have a celebration of life in the Spring. Letters of condolence can be sent to the family via www.burbagefuneralhome.com. Arrangements are in the care of The Burbage Funeral Home.

I remember being young and going with my folks to the annual Christmas Party in Falls Church. I still have visions of the front door wrapped up in red foil and illuminated with lights focusing in from both sides of the walkway. I remember the Christmas tree decorated just so and wrapped in a glowing cocoon of angel hair. Downstairs echoed the festive sounds from the reel to reel tape deck, the smell of holiday food and the familiar voices that I can still hear to this day, of Aunts and Uncles that are no longer with us.
The genuine love for each other, the overheard stories of a dog that eats neighbors cat food. These small snippets of life that seem so insignificant at the time tend to live on in all of us for generations to come.
The effort and care from Aunt Bobbie to put together festivities like that each year and make it look effortless was lost on me as a child but not as an adult.
Time goes by way too fast. Aunt Bobbie will be missed but her spirit and strength will live on in friends and family forever.

Dear Sandy, Ron, and Angie ~
I am very sorry to hear about your mother. She was always a favorite of mine. I have nothing but good memories of her, and think of her wonderful, quick smile when thoughts of her enter my mind. Loved her laugh, too!
My thoughts and prayers are with you.
God bless,
