Barbara Jeanne Colby

Barbara Jeanne Colby ( Salvas), aged 75, passed away on July 10, 2024, in Concord, NH. Born on April 23, 1949, in Grasmere, NH, she was a beloved figure known for her kindness, loyalty, and spirited sense of humor.

Barbara, affectionately known as Gram, was the matriarch of her family, often described as the glue that held them together. Her life was marked by a profound love for her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, for whom she went above and beyond, never missing a chance to send a holiday card signed "Gram xoxo." An avid reader, Barbara could frequently be found with her Kindle and a xl Dunkin' Donuts travel cup full of coffee, a testament to her simple joys. Her love for animals, particularly owls, mirrored her caring nature.

Barbara's career spanned many years, starting as an LNA at Hillsboro County Nursing Home, followed by a long tenure at Plastic Techniques Inc., where she retired after 35 years of dedicated service. Her hobbies included reading, puzzles, and games, activities that reflected her sharp mind and mischievous playful spirit.

Barbara was predeceased by her parents, Arthur and Barbara Salvas; her husband, Lenny Colby; siblings Stephen Smas, Channing Salvas, and Claudia Lachappell; and niece and nephew, Shannon Torrey and Steven Smas. She is survived by her children, Lenny Colby, and Lorena Colby (Brad); grandchildren, Kristie Colby, Ariel Colby (Zack), and Perry Eaton Jr.; great-grandchildren, Hailey, Gavin, Jorden, Keihinn, and Dillon; brother, Sherrill Smas (Bonnie); and sisters, Judy Shaw and Glenna Torrey. Her extended family includes many cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A graveside interment service will be held at the Veterans Cemetery on Friday, August 9th at 3 PM. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the Cremation Society of New Hampshire in Boscawen, NH, for their compassionate assistance.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Barbara's memory may be made to the Liberty House in Manchester, NH, reflecting her lifelong commitment to community support and care.
