Barbara Curran Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Mar. 7 to Mar. 8, 2023.
Barbara Ann Patton Curran passed away in Charlotte NC on Feb. 11, 2023. She was born in Albany, GA on Feb.2, 1939 to parents, Lindsey and Amy Patton. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Richard (Dick) Curran and granddaughter Bobbi Meyer. She is survived by her children Maria Curran (Don Bennett) of Charlotte, NC and Bill Curran (Tawanna) of Bryson City, NC. She is survived by sisters Ginger Lindsey (Jerry), Jane Woody (Jim) of Greensboro, NC and brother Tim Patton (Debi) of Monroe, NC and grandchildren Austin Bennett, Daniel Curran, and Matthew Curran and six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Anyone who knew Barbara knew that her passion was antiques. She had businesses buying and selling antiques and collectibles in Atlanta, and Albany. Barbara and Dick moved to Dawson after Dick's retirement. There she enjoyed their old house and her many antiques. After the death of her mother, she and Dick moved to Charlotte, NC to be near her daughter and other family. She and Dick were faithful members of Holy Spirit Episcopal Church in Dawson.

There will be a memorial service in Charlotte on April 1.

Barbara was the first person I met when we moved into our townhouse 7 years ago. She and Dick were great neighbors and friends. Barbara was my "go anywhere, anytime" friend. All I had to do was text her to see if she wanted to go to dinner or shopping and she would say "Let me get my shoes on". We went to CFA every Tuesday for dinner. Even when she was in the hospital, rehab or nursing home I continued to take her CFA. She looked forward to it every week. I will miss her dearly.
