I always wanted to thank Miss Currie for giving me (a shy person, at the time) a part in the play Auntie Mame. It meant a lot to me. I have memories of the experience and of her. May God Bless her eternally.

I was one of her students in the mid-90s and loved her Humanities class. That class shaped my approach to education over a lifetime and she will be missed.

Ms. Currie is the only reason I graduated high school. She smoothed the edges of the big chip I carried on my teenage shoulders. She championed me and made school not only bearable, but enjoyable. Through her, I have a love of 'The Odyssey' and my children have the youth version they read again and again. I love Shakespeare because of her. She was a shining light. I wish everyone could be lucky enough to have a teacher like her at least once in their lives.

I had Ms Currie for high school English back in the early 90s. I'll never forget her. She was a great teacher and really cared about her students! My condolences to her family and friends as she was a class act and will be sorely missed!!

I was a former student of Ms. Currie's and really liked my classes with her. She helped me to public speak with less fear. Ms. Currie truly cared about all her students! She was an amazing woman and teacher. Her laugh was awesome too! Sending thoughts and prayers!

Barbara Currie was my beloved high school musical theater director. She took me to Tamworth for two summers to experience professional theater. It was due to her teacher hood and her kind taking me under her powerfully devoted wing that I was able to go to Syracuse Unversity and receive a BFA in Musical Theatre. I made it out to Hollywood and spent some time writing for The Nanny. My life took a surprising turn later on when I gave up writing and performing commercially to become a spiritual healer and teacher. And yet, all the tools and tricks and wonderful things Miss Currie taught me back at BHS still apply - maybe even more so. I hope that I am half as loving, patient, kind and wonderful to my students as Miss Currie was to me and countless others. Her laugh was famous at BHS. The funniest story I recall was when I confided to her in righeous indignation that a boy French kissed me during one of the scenes from Annie Get Your Gun. Miss Curriescreamed with laughter when she saw my dismay and then heard where it was coming from. She set the kid straight, of course and acknowledged my feelings. But I will never forget the howling laughter from a loving teacher and amazing presence in my life. Barbara Currie is in my prayers. I will be praying for her family as well as they grieve their loss. I love you, Miss Currie! Thank you for the pivotal and important role you played in my younger life.

Ms. Currie was such a great teacher. I was a student at BHS. She helped me learn who I am and what I'm good at and she taught me that sometimes writing your own thoughts can help solidify ideas for yourself, make you see things differently.
I kept in touch for a few years after I graduated and she made sure that once I graduated I knew to call her Barbara. More than a teacher, she was a friend and she'll be missed.

As a former student at BHS, I was saddened to hear of Ms. Curries passing. She was an outstanding educator who truly cared for her students. What I will remember most is her light up the room smile and infectious laugh. Rest in piece Ms. Currie.

Barbara was a terrific and beloved teacher, and a great leader of teachers as the president of the BEA. She was quick to share her experiences with new teachers, patient with any student question, and quick to laugh. She will be missed.
