Barbara Davis Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 8, 2025.
St Augustine - Barbara Ann (née O'Connor) Davis, 81, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2025, surrounded by her daughters, sister, brother, and sister-in-law.

Born at N.S. Naval Hospital in Brooklyn, NY, Barbara spent the last 25 years of her life in Marsh Creek, St. Augustine, FL. She was a graduate of The Academy of the Holy Angels in Fort Lee, NJ, and grew up in Bergen County, NJ, where she built a long and successful career in real estate.

Barbara was predeceased by her beloved husband of 34 years, Chet Davis, and her son, Ronnie Greve of Hillsdale, NJ. She is survived by her daughters, Jennifer Greve of Little River, SC (formerly of Pearl River, NY), and Shannon Hall and her husband, Larry, of Midland Park, NJ. She also leaves behind her stepchildren, Brad Davis and Alicia Davis, both of Michigan.

Barbara's loving spirit lives on through her six cherished grandchildren: Brendan Greve, Patrick Greve, Tara Hall, Meghan Greve, Courtney Greve, and Kale Davis. She deeply valued her time with them and always offered thoughtful advice when asked.

Barbara is also survived by her devoted siblings, Jean Kenny of Monroe, NY, and John O'Connor of Port Monmouth, NJ, along with his wife, Peg O'Connor.

Her passing is deeply felt by her extended family, including her beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins, as well as the many dear friends who held her close to their hearts.

Barbara was known for her sharp wit, loving nature, and keen business acumen. A true wordsmith, she delighted in word games, whether tackling Wordle, Words With Friends, or crosswords, she embraced each challenge with enthusiasm. She cherished family game nights and weekly card games with friends, always bringing energy and fun to the table.

Whether navigating the complexities of the real estate market or analyzing financial trends, Barbara had an instinct for strategy and success.

An accomplished and passionate golfer, Barbara's love for the sport began at Ridgewood Country Club in New Jersey, where she and Chet were members. In retirement, they were drawn to the historic charm of St. Augustine and the vibrant community of Marsh Creek Country Club. Barbara was an active member of the Marsh Creek Ladies Golf Association, serving in numerous roles throughout her tenure. She brought not only a strong game to Marsh Creek, but also an element of fun to a competition that started on the course and continued at the 19th hole, playing Poker Putts.

This is just a glimpse of the love, fun and enduring spirit Barbara shared with all who knew and loved her.

We have such happy memories of you from family reunions and other social gatherings You always added a special touch with your smile and keen wit. Our connection with you was reinvigorated when we moved to Florida. Whether it was attending the Players Tournament at Sawgrass, luncheons at The Reef or weekend cocktails at Caps on the water, you always brightened our day with your smile. We miss you and thanks for all the memories. Rob and Nancy Riva.
