BARBARA A. FIENE, 64 DAKOTA - Barbara A Fiene, 64, of Dakota passed away suddenly Sunday, Nov. 7, 2010, in her home, of an apparent heart attack. Born Oct. 18, 1946, in Rockford, the daughter of Theodore and Doris (Lemke) Neumann. Graduate of Rockford West High School in 1964. On Feb. 14, 1965, she and Larry Fiene were united in marriage at Trinity Lutheran Church in Rockford. Barb started her career life as a beautician and then worked in the Dakota School District. Later she worked many years for the Monroe Clinic and also Malcolm Eaton Enterprises before her present position of activities director for Provena St. Joseph Adult Day Center in Freeport. Charter member of the Tri-District Ambulance crew and had been taking tickets at the Dakota High School football games for 30 years. Barb enjoyed sewing and crafting, including creating several memory quilts and blankets for her grandchildren as well as beautifying many brides by tailoring their gowns to fit perfectly. Charter member of the Rock City Indian Grove Country Church. Surviving are husband, Larry of Dakota; mother, Doris Franklin of Rockford; daughters, Teresa (John) Wenger of Davis and Andrea (Greg) Kittle of Rockford; son, Eric (Carla) Fiene of Rock City; grandchildren, Matthew, Megann, Mackenzie and Andrew Wenger, Ethan and Cora Fiene, Zachary, Bryn and Haley Kittle; and sisters, Sandie (Steve) Elrick of Roscoe and Vickie (Charles) Allton of Rockford. Predeceased by father, Theodore; and stepfather, Edwin Franklin. Service at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 11, at Rock City Indian Grove Country Church, with the Rev. Paul Lamm officiating. Burial in Dakota Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 10, at Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, Dakota. A memorial fund has been established in her name.
