Barbara Jean Harris Fitch has gone to be with Jesus.
She was born on January 24, 1948 in Staunton.
She is the daughter of the late Charles William, Sr. and Eva Bell Jones Randolph and her adoptive parents, the late Archie and Ruth Lucille Randolph Harris.
Barbara is survived by her seven siblings: Ms. Patricia “Patsy” Jones of Ohio, Jacqueline Marcia Randolph of Washington, DC, Margaret Ann Randolph of Maryland, Sandy Maria Randolph Fitzpatrick of Richmond, Tony Marcelus Randolph of Hawaii, Charles William Randolph, Jr. of Waynesboro, and Stanford Louis Randolph of Maryland. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-law family.
Barbara is preceded in death by a brother, Mr. Glenn Jones and a sister, Mildred Lucille Randolph.
Ms. Fitch was a member of the Waynesboro Church of Latter-Day Saints.
She graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in Staunton and attended Virginia Union University in Richmond. She graduated with her business certificate from Smithdeal Massey Business College in Richmond as well as Blue Ridge Community College in Weyers Cave where she received her Associate of Applied Science degree and Mary Baldwin College in Staunton where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree.
Ms. Fitch was employed for many years as a clerk with the Department for the Blind and Vision Impaired on the campus of the Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind in Staunton. Prior to her retirement, she also worked for the federal government.
She served as a member of the Shenandoah Club and was also a member of the Human Rights Committee at Valley Community Services Board in Staunton.
Mrs. Fitch’s last wishes are to thank those who contributed so much to her life. She would like to express her heartfelt gratitude to Valley Community Services Board (PACT) Team, especially Melody Studzman, and her love for the Shenandoah Club’s members and staff – past and present. Ms. Fitch has also given special thanks and love to her aunt, Mrs. Mary Sue Green of Staunton, and her loving sister, Jackie Randolph.
Mrs. Fitch’s service will be held on Friday, July 14, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Henry Funeral Home with the Reverend Clay Sterrett officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 PM.
Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
