Barbara Gold Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 6, 2024.
Barbara Gold, a lifelong resident of New York City, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2024, in Forest Hills, Queens. Born on December 24, 1930, in Hell's Kitchen, Manhattan, Barbara spent her entire life in the city she cherished deeply.

Barbara was married to Daniel Roy Kossoff, with whom she shared a bond that endured even after their divorce, until his untimely passing in 1987. Her last spoken word was "Danny."

Barbara is survived by her two children, Roberta Kossoff and Marty Kossoff, five grandchildren-Dasha, Hannah, Ben, Georgia, and Angelina-three great-grandchildren, and her two sisters, Marsha and Florence, and her nieces Hyla, Erica and Laura, and her nephew Ari. She was always in constant contact with her entire family, and she delighted in sharing her passions with them. She also remained close to her good friends Astrid, Adele, and Flora.

Always displaying a true appreciation of the arts, Barbara surrounded herself with beauty in all its forms, including art, poetry, books, music, and collectibles, to name a few. Her appreciation extended beyond personal enjoyment; she was an active participant in several prestigious arts organizations in Manhattan, including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and the Ethical Culture Society.

Barbara's insatiable curiosity and love for learning were hallmarks of her character. Even in her later years, she pursued higher education, embodying the spirit of a lifelong learner. She always took great joy in sharing her discoveries with her family.

Barbara Gold will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of wonder, learning, and appreciation for the arts will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.
