Barbara Anne Waddell Gray

Barbara (Waddell) Gray was born in Fauquier County, VA to James and Fannie Waddell. She married William L Gray of Middleburg, VA in 1956. She is survived by her husband and her only child, Melissa Gray York, and her son-in law, James F York, of Leesburg, VA, her granddaughter, Samantha Martin, grandson-in-law, Jeremy Martin, and great-grandson, Jordan Martin, all of Arlington, VA and her grandson, William A York, and grand-daughter in law, Ana York, of Alexandria, VA and her sister-in-law, Gene Waddell, of Nokesville, VA.

Barbara graduated from Osbourne High School in Manassas, VA with a certificate in cosmetology. She was a hairdresser in Middleburg, VA until moving to Charlottesville, VA in 1963. For years she was an active volunteer with her daughter's elementary and high schools and also volunteered at her grandchildren's elementary school. She also, for years, helped her husband with the horses on their various farms and even learned to ride a horse to be out with her husband and daughter.

The family would like to thank the caregivers and staff of Orchard Ridge in Winchester, VA for all of their care of Barbara.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Middleburg Humane Foundation to honor Barbara's love of dogs and horses.
