There is a void in my heart that no one else could ever fill. For 42 years, Barbara Hanger filled that space in my heart, which is now void. I will miss my dear friend. I will miss those long phone conversations, the places we traveled to with her family, and the visits I made to her home in California and then Pittsfield. No one can ever fill the shoes of Barbara Hanger, but we can walk in her footprints. I, Pittsfield, and many other friends and family has lost a truly loving, kind and generous person. My visits to Pittsfield will never be the same. I am looking forward to seeing my friend again just inside the Pearly Gates of Heaven, where everyday will be hello, hello, and never never goodbye. I love you and will miss you Barbara Hanger.

Life is a circle, and who's to say which part is the end and which is the beginning. That's the exciting part. It's also the sad and uncertain part, so we live fully every single day. You know. A lifetime in each moment, leaving our footprints in the wet cement, and our fingerprints on the souls we encounter. It's a good thing, even when it's bad. I'm okay with that.

Thank you to all the people who left such wonderful remarks about our mother. And many thanks as well, to all the friends and family who came to the services. Our family has been extremely moved by the outporing of love and support. We only mourn our own loss...we celebrate in her deliverence from suffering. Thank you again

Holding all the family in prayer as the matriarch crosses over to her better life and final resting place of PEACE! We will all miss her for a long long time. Praising God for her life and all her super good qualities. We were blessed to have had her in our lives.

No one I know touched as many lives as Barbara. She was a special brand of person. Strong and indomitable. I've known her since I was a 10 year old boy. I loved her like a mother and will miss her dearly. God Bless you Barbara.

What an amazing woman, who last year at 74 years old, volunteered every Friday in our Conte classroom, reading, playing, singing songs, eating lunch and being another pair of loving, watchful eyes for our children. When I used to work at the Variety store on Onota St. I would wait on Barbara.Everytime I saw her she had a smile. Noel,I was saddened to hear about your mother! She was an incredible woman, strong in spirit,and fiercely dedicated to her family and community. Her support of us ALL at the Berkshire Public Theater was no less than that as well. She seemed to be everyone's mother and I felt that, even when I saw her from time to time after the BPT closed. She will be missed by you and your family, but don't forget, WE will miss her, too!! As I posted earlier, she was a ROCK for you and a ROCK for the city!! Barbara was one of those women who teach, inspire, support, and nurture, both deliberately and by the way they live. She was a born leader; when she felt that a thing needed doing (and she felt this way pretty often), she was a force of nature. She lived with strength, energy, faith, and conviction. I admired her, and I mourn her loss. I hope all who loved and were loved by her find solace in memories of a truly remarkable woman -- and in the example she leaves us all.
