Barbara Jean Hoffman

Barbara Jean Hoffman, aged 68, passed away on October 18, 2024, in Rochester, N.Y. She leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication, marked by her lifelong commitment to her family and community.

Born on August 15, 1956, Barbara spent her formative years attending Number 8 School and Franklin High School, followed by a significant period serving in the Peace Corps. Her career in retail spanned many years, culminating in her retirement from Walmart, where she was a respected and beloved figure.

Barbara was a devout Christian, actively participating in the life of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Geneseo, N.Y. Her commitment extended beyond regular worship as she immersed herself in church events, enriching her community's spiritual life.

She was a vibrant soul who loved crocheting, attending festivals, and being actively involved in her church's activities. These hobbies were a testament to her joyful spirit and her ability to connect with others through shared interests and communal gatherings.

Barbara's family was the cornerstone of her life. She is survived by her loving husband, David W. Hoffman Jr., and her daughters, Jennifer Ann Hoffman along with her three children, and Brandy (Matt) Hart with their two daughters. She also leaves behind her siblings, Patricia R. Alabaugh, Gene (Kate) Alabaugh, Dennis M. Alabaugh, Cheryl (Thomas) Stone, James (Debra) Snyder, and Vicki (David) Snyder-Dickerson. Her extended family includes numerous nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Waneta M. Snyder and Louis S. Alabaugh; her brother, Leroy Alabaugh; her nephew, Teddy M. Miller; her in-laws, David and Ann Hoffman; and her brother-in-law, Robert J. Hoffman.

A service to celebrate Barbara's life will be held at Cornerstone Baptist Church, located at 4232 Reservoir Rd, Geneseo, NY 14454. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Cornerstone Baptist Church or the Neurofibromatosis Foundation, honoring her spirit of giving and community support. Barbara's memory will be cherished by all who knew her, as she truly loved life and lived it to the fullest.
