Barbara House Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 2, 2025.
Barbara Rose House (née Rivard), age 86, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2025, in New Jersey.

Barbara will be deeply missed by her two sons and their spouses: Roy (and Barbara) of Mendham Township, NJ, and their daughters, Samantha and Marisa, and Ray (and Marie) of Sunnyvale, CA, and their daughter, Louise, and son, Raymond. She also leaves behind her brother John, who shared many cherished memories with her over the years.

Born on October 19, 1938, in the Bronx, New York, Barbara was the daughter of Adelard and Mary Rivard. She grew up in a lively household alongside her siblings and attended Walton High School in the Bronx. Her early years were shaped by a strong sense of family and values that remained central throughout her life. Barbara married Roy T. House, and together they built a life rooted in love and devotion. They raised their twin sons, Roy and Ray, in Paramus, New Jersey. Though her husband Roy preceded her in death, their legacy lives on through their children and grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents, Adelard and Mary Rivard, her husband, Roy House, her brother, Grant Rivard, and her sister, Anita Wells.

Barbara found joy in simple pleasures and community connections. A proud member of the Red Hatters club, she embraced friendship and fun with enthusiasm during her years living in Sarasota, Florida. She enjoyed bowling outings that brought laughter and camaraderie, as well as quiet moments spent working on puzzles or word searches - activities that reflected both her sharp mind and love for peaceful reflection. She was most proud of all of her grandchildren.

Her kindness and compassion for others were a bright light throughout her life. It provided strength during difficult times and deepened the joy she found in everyday blessings.

Those who knew Barbara remember her as sweet-natured, full of life, happy, and loving - a woman whose warmth touched everyone around her. Her presence will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege to know her.

May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the American Cancer Society in her memory. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date to be determined.
