Mrs. Barbara Payette, age 81 years and a resident of Thunder Bay passed away peacefully at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, on June 18th, 2015 with family by her side.
Barbara was born in Nakina, Ontario on March 1st, 1934. As a child she moved with her family to Schreiber, Ontario, where she would eventually meet her husband, Reg Payette. They later moved to Terrace Bay where they lived for many years and raised a family. Barb was a stay-at-home Mom until her family grew up. Afterwards, she worked at Kimberly Clark of Canada until she retired.
Barb was a quietly passionate, gentle, generous soul and lived her life with grace and a dedication to her family. She loved to read, do crossword puzzles, work in her garden, and was always one to decorate for Christmas, but she was her happiest when surrounded by her family. Occasionally her passion would not be so quiet. At times, when watching a suspenseful movie, she would spontaneously and unexpectedly yell at the TV surprising and amusing those around her. You always knew when she was impressed, as she would express herself with an enthusiastic “Holy Doodle”!
Barbara will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her children; sons Michael his wife Julie, Matthew, and wife Betty-Anne, and daughter Alyson, grandchildren, Aidan, Stella, Sean, Amanda, step granddaughter Cassandra and sisters Norma Vescio and Beverley Weaver. She was predeceased by her husband Reg Payette, her son Steve Payette, her parents William and Minerva Randa, her brother Bill Randa and her sisters Joy Caron and Diane Zvonar
Memorial Services for Barb will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday August 1st, 2015 in the Chapel of the HARBOURVIEW FUNERAL CENTRE, 499 North Cumberland Street. Family and friends may gather in the Chapel up to one hour prior to service time. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Barbara's memory to The Alzheimer's Society of Thunder Bay.
