I was very close to the family during the late 60's and early 70's. Shirley Mae was my high school sweetheart. After my parents' divorce, I lived with my dad. He passed away in 1969. Without them knowing, Barbera and Duncan became my surrogate parents. I will never forget them and their family who gave me what I needed during that time. Love you all.

I've known Barbara since she moved to Brevard County, FL. We worked together in Banking in the early 90's and have always stayed in touch. She always came out to Volunteer at our Charity events benefiting Toys for Kids. She was an awesome, caring person and always there for us. RIP Barbara, Heaven is very lucky to have you.

Barbara was a friend and a great neighbor. When she found out I was a veteran, a great bond formed. I would help her bring in her groceries or one of the many packages she had delivered. When she went out of town, she always said her house would be secure because she had her very own police officer (me) looking after it. You will be missed dear Barbara.

I met Barbara at post 117 she was selling raffle tickets for a fundraiser, we started talking and I remember her smile as she greeted each person. We joked around alot that day, and from then on we became good friends, she would always call or I would call her to see if she was going to the legion. She loved when I cooked in the kitchen, her favorite was my 3 hour ribs and her favorite dessert was my pretzel salad. Something I will always remember about Barbara is her loving soul, she was a beautiful person inside and outside. She always had wonderful advice, although sometimes I didn't follow it but always wished I did lol then she would say I told you so. She gave me a bunch of ceramics she had and wanted me to refurbish them all for her, I remember some huge eggs she had, she told me to decorate them anyway I chose, of course I did one as an American flag in memory of where we met at the American legion. Then for her love of the poppies I painted an egg with a poppies on it, I painted another one with little flowers. I also reburshed a little raccoon she just adored holding an apple, this list goes on and on. I planted a wedding bouquet Plumaria in her front yard and also in her back yard, and I planted a Hibiscus tree in her back yard that grew huge. She loved the blooms on. I helped her with her orchids that she just adored and showed her how to transplant them. I never ever had a boring visit with my friend, she always made it fun. I picked on her all the time about how full her freeze and fridge was and told her don't do any more shopping till we cleaned it out. I had to sneak things out of her fridge that were expired, but she always enjoyed it when it was clean lol. I remember she had a carpet in an odd place near her bed and I asked her why it was there, she said she had a cracked tile. So I said we'll I can fix that for you. So I got to work on it and it came out so nice she started asking if I could do other work. I told her anyone could do anything they put their mind to. So Barbara always called me to see about doing repairs. I loved being around her so I really didn't mind at all doing things for her. After all look how much she did for everyone else and the legion. Barbara you are going to be so missed. I love you so much and will miss you with all my heart. Rest in Eternal peace my friend. Your job is done here now. You have gained your wings.
