Lois Thomson passed away on Sunday, April 30, 2023 at Sunnyside Nursing Home in Lake Park, MN.
Funeral Mass will be 11:00 AM, on Monday, May 8th, 2023 at Assumption Catholic Church in Barnesville, MN with Fr. Todd Arends presiding. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Barnesville.
Lois Ann Gehrig, the daughter of Anton and Theresa (Buth) Gehrig was born on February 28, 1927 on a farm in rural Barnesville, MN. She was baptized, first holy communion, confirmed, and married at Assumption Catholic Church, and a lifetime member. She attended school in Atherton Township School.
She worked at many restaurants as a waitress. She married Leo M. Thomson of Wolverton, MN on April 28, 1949. On August 7, 1951, their son Curtis was born.
In 1953, Leo and Lois bought their family farm near Rothsay, MN and lived there until 1998, when they retired from farming and moved to Barnesville.
She served as a 4-H leader and as well as being active in many other area organizations including: Barnesville VFW Post 4628 Auxiliary, Barnesville American Legion 153 Auxiliary, Wahpeton, ND Eagles Club 2749 Auxiliary, and a Life Member of the Wilkin County Historical Museum. She was also very active at Assumption Catholic Church as a member of the St. Ann Guild, serving as an usher and greeter and working at Hildebrand Hall and Rollag Hill events for many years.
She also loved to garden and grow flowers in her yard. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her entire family.
Lois is survived by her daughter in law Karen Thomson, grandchildren Shawn (Kathie) Thomson, Candida Lazorenko, Jesse (Jill) Thomson and Jeremy Thomson; great grandchildren Bailey, Jada, Marisa, Kimberly, and Kellie.
She was preceded in death by her parents Anton and Theresa; her husband, Leo; and her son, Curtis, siblings: Arlene, Florence, Donald, Loren, Delores, Mildred, Marcella and Janice.
