I had the wonderful pleasure to work with Ms. Whittaker at the University of Phoenix for three years. BJW as we called her, taught us all so much. Whether she realized it or not she was a great mentor to me and I appreciate her very much.
May God bless and keep your family and friends.

A True Living Light...
My prayers are with all whom loved Barbara as she made that so very easy to do.
I write this with sadness in my heart and tears on my face...I was reminded how Barbara faced this challenge as she did life, with both dignity and grace...
Her Smile and her sweet disposition with that big loving heart is something I loved about her right from the start ...
These qualities are rare yet she had all of these ...and I know she is one with whom God is well pleased...
I shall hold the memories we shared and thank God I had a chance to have her in my life and to be my sister-in-law..
May God Bless you all....Derek,Toni,Chyra and all of her extended family ....
She will be sadly missed.

To the Whittaker Family,
I was so sorry to hear of Barbara's passing. She and I worked together at South Central Bell for several years. She was a dedicated professional and cherished co-worker. Although your hearts are heavy now, I recommend you to the only one who can heal your pain. The bible tells us that "He is a man of sorrow and acquainted with grief". Look to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, He will be there for you when others can't. I shall keep you in my prayers.

We have been knowing Barbara Whitaker all of our lives. She is an awesome soul of a woman who is now with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in Heaven. Although our mother and Barbara's soror, Nida Vital, is battling Alzheimer's, the disease NEVER has taken away her memories of her beloved Barbara. She still vividly remembers her Soror and Neopyte Barbara Whitaker and Barbara's positive impact on the New Orleans Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta and the city of New Orleans. To the repose of Barbara's Soul, May she Rest in HIS Peace and God Bless her entire Family. We Love you Always. The Vital Family (Houston, Texas by way of our native New Orleans, Louisiana)
