Barbara Kaye Wyrick - known to her loved ones as Kaye, passed away on Thursday, July 13, 2023, at the age of 74 in Knoxville, Tennessee. She was born on September 9, 1948 in Strawberry Plains, Tennessee. Kaye was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She had a strong and devout faith in God, and was a member of the Strawberry Plains Methodist Church. Her faith was an important aspect of her life. After graduating from the University of Tennessee, Kaye dedicated 31 years of her life to teaching in the Knox County Schools. She was passionate about education and had a significant impact on the lives of her students. Kaye is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, David Wyrick; their children, Julia Wyrick-Egan (Rusty), Rebecca Brown (Porter), and Bradley Scott Wyrick. She is also survived by her sisters, Betty Lee (Cecil) and Faye Day (David); grandchildren, Jarrod Brown, Laurel Pierce (Shane), and Patrick Brown; great-grandchildren, Abram and Chloe Pierce; and several beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by parents, Mattie and Rutherford Lowery; mother and father-in-law, Gladys and W.C. Wyrick; sister, Bonne Lee; brother-in-law, Junior Lee; and brothers-in-law, Cecil Lee and David Day. Kaye will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched throughout her lifetime. Her legacy as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, teacher, and faithful member of her community will forever be cherished. The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 PM on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at Bridges Funeral Home followed by the funeral service at 7:00 PM with Pastor Doug Jennings and Dr. Shane Pierce officiating. Services may be viewed securely on the Bridges Funeral Home website. Family and friends will meet 12:45 PM on Sunday at Eastview Memorial Gardens for a 1:00 PM graveside service.
