Barbara Zelenka

Barbara Zelenka, 79, of Durango, CO and Litchfield Park, AZ died on 5/18/2015 in Durango, CO. She was born on 2/1/1936 in Detroit, MI. Her parents were William & Evelyn Hentschel. Barbara is now with the Lord. There will be a viewing Friday, May 22, 2015 from 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM. A rosary service to celebrate her life, will follow the visitation on Friday at 6:00 PM in the Hood Mortuary Chapel. A funeral mass for her will be held Saturday, May 23, 2015, at 9:00 AM at Saint Columba Catholic Church in Durango. Barb is survived by her loving husband Jerry, her 2 daughters (Cheryl Zelenka & Karen Kinne) and 5 grandchildren. She is an RN earning her nursing degree from the Univ. of Michigan in 1958. At the U of M she met her husband Jerry on 12/13/1957, and they married the following summer (8/30/1958). Barb devoted much of her free time to local charities and supporting many poor children in Africa, Chile, Guatemala, and the Philippines. Her favorite hobbies were gardening and sewing. Barb & Jerry's travels included all of Western Europe, 6 African countries, Turkey, Israel, Russia, China, New Zealand, Australia, and Peru. They have been to all 50 of our states. She is now taking her final adventure.
