Mr. Barney Leonard Nutt "McNutt," age 86, of Florence, died Thursday, Oct. 2, 2003. Visitation will be Saturday, Oct. 4, 2003, from 5-7 p.m. at Spry Serenity Chapel, Florence. The funeral service will be Sunday, Oct. 5, 2003, at 2:30 p.m. at graveside, Lone Oak Cemetery, Lewisburg, Tenn., with the Rev. James Cotton officiating. Pallbearers will be Andrew Lawrence McNutt, Charles Patrick McNutt, Dustin Kelly McNutt, Darren Keith McNutt, Ken Cheatwood, Kenny Kelly, Kenneth McNutt, Chris McNutt and Dr. Tim McNutt.Native of Waynesboro, Tenn., he lived in Lewisburg, Lawrenceburg and Knoxville, Tenn., before retiring to Alabama from the L&N Railroad after 42 years of service. Barney loved gardening and in recent years fishing. A good cook, specializing in peanut brittle candy given to all his friends and family at Christmas, Barney was born second of 10 boys and no girls to Charlie and Laura Nutt. He was close to his brothers and known for his funny stories and jokes.Preceding him in death were his wife, Mamie Izador Kelly; seven brothers, Hughs Nutt "McNutt", Dick McNutt, Doyle McNutt, Edward McNutt, Bobby McNutt, Coy McNutt and Wade McNutt. Survivors include his daughter, Susan McNutt Chambers and husband, David, of Asheville, N.C.; sons, Charles Thomas McNutt and his wife, Barbara, of Huntsville, Ala., Ronnie Kelly McNutt and his wife, Sheila, of Florence; brothers, Chuck McNutt, of California, Joel McNutt, of California; grandchildren, Cathy Lynn Cheatwood, Andrew Lawrence McNutt, Charles Patrick McNutt, Dustin Kelly McNutt, Darren Keith McNutt, Kathryn Lynne Chambers, Melissa Marie Chambers; great-grandchildren, Charles O'Neal Cheatwood, Tyler Matthew Cheatwood, Ashley Jean McNutt and Kelly Drew McNutt.Barney was a loving husband and father.Spry Serenity Chapel, Florence, is directing.
