Barry Apfelbaum Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 17, 2024.
Barry Apfelbaum, son of Isidore and Minna Apfelbaum (deceased), passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at the age of 74, in Altamonte Springs, Florida.

Barry, also known as "Barry-the-A," was a resident of Orlando, Florida, for many years. All his family and friends will dearly miss him.

Barry was born on Dec. 10, 1950, and grew up in Brooklyn, NY. He graduated from New England Law in Boston and spent his professional career serving as a criminal defense attorney in Florida and New York.

Barry is survived by his wife, Linda Apfelbaum; older brother, Nate Apfelbaum; daughters Lisa Hall, Dana Roedell, and Jessica Camara; grandchildren Ethan Hall, Ryan Roedell, Grady Camara, Graham Camara, and Grace Camara.

Barry was passionate about his work and helping others. He also loved to laugh, demonstrate his knowledge via Jeopardy, and cheer on his favorite New York sports teams to many, many victories. Barry loved music, especially the Beatles, and played the guitar.

Barry was a devoted father to his three daughters. He encouraged his children to try different extracurriculars, attended youth sports games, and helped with homework whenever needed. He and his wife loved to get away for the weekend to local beaches and partake in various haunted tours all along the East Coast.

Barry was a comedian to the very end, giving his caretakers and family reasons to laugh even in some of the most difficult times. He was always moving despite being told to sit still, always pushing the envelope, and continuing to fight for what was right. His hard work will continue to be recognized by the people he helped and the lives he touched along the way.

To honor Barry's wishes, he will be cremated and celebrated in a private family ceremony.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Lewy Body Dementia Association at www.lbda.org/donate/ to join the fight against LBD.

We'll all miss you, Dad, and cherish the memories we shared forever.

He had a child like smile when he was happy. It was infectious. You will be remembered with so much love! Thank you for being you.

Barry was one of the finest individuals I have ever met, also one of the smartest. I clearly remember our meeting 35 years ago. We were in line waiting on the judge and struck up a conversation. When I asked if he liked cards, his eyes lit up and with his infectious grin said `absolutely´. He became a cherished member of our small game. He is the only attorney I know of who gave a six word opening statement and won..."they got the wrong guy" is all he said. I could go on and on about Barry stories, but it is suffice to say he was the epitome of good. To Linda, I think of you and Barry daily.

I grew up in the Apfelbaum house. I can still hear Mr. A coming home from work, opening the door and shouting "Algebra...My Boy" to the family dog who he cheerfully greeted every day in the same tone while petting him with hands still full grasping his briefcase and business jacket. So many awesome trips to the beach, the movie theatre, theme parks, birthday parties and more over the years where Mr. A brought laughter and joy to us all. I remember Mr. A driving me home one afternoon when I must of been about 10-11 years old. I believe the song "Message in a Bottle" by The Police was on and I stated "this song is so repetitive" and he laughed and said "big word". Barry always showed me kindness, acceptance and love over the years and I´m privileged to have known him. My heart is with Linda, Lisa, Jessica, Dana and all the amazing grands. My deepest sympathies, Tiffany Woideck
