Barry Richard Bainton

I was sad to see Barry´s name in the Winter 2024 Peace Corps magazine honoring those who had passed away.
Barry and I were in Peace Corps training together at Cornell in the summer of 1964 and subsequently served two years volunteering in Peru.

I´m happy to read in his obituary that he lived a full and purposeful life. May his memory continue to be a blessing.

I am stricken with grief to learn Barry passed. We knew each other at the University of Arizona, Anthropology Department where to me he was already a giant among men. He was brilliant, and such an even keeled fellow. It was Barry who provided me the opportunity to work with USAID in Yemen. He was a friend and mentor in the society of Professional Anthropologists. Ah Barry. You are one with the ages now. Peace to you and your loved ones. Gaby Dolphin
