Cyndie:

As I can only remember the happy times we had with you and Barry, I can only hope that the wonderful memories will sustain you now. We had Dutch fun times--biking in Holland with the dog in the basket; we had Canadain fun times--camping in the Rookies, we had painfully boring times--sailing down the never ending Rhine; but we had time. God has chosen to end Barry's time here on earth, but treasure what you did have. All God's strength

Dear Cyndie, Zachary and Molly,

We wish to express our sincere condolences and are saddened by your loss.

In Leanne's eye's Barry was larger than life. His kidding and joking always made her feel right at home.

Our prayers and thoughts are with you.

Cyndie, Zac and Molly; We will be some of the many people who will miss Barry and feel a larger than life loss in our lives. He was a warm, generous, creative person. It is our hope that the people visiting West End CRC for the service tomorrow will appreciate the beauty of this house of worship and praise that Barry was so involved in designing. I wish we could be at the service tomorrow to say goodbye with you, but we are miles away and at a lake. I do promise that we will sit at the shoreline, look over the water, think and talk of Barry and send you warm thoughts. Daniel, Rhonda, Jack and Nonnie van Heyst

Dearest Auntie Cyndie,

Molly and Zak

It will never be ok to loose any one so close to, but in time your heart will heal from its loss

I just want to share with you Auntie Cyndie one of my favorite memories of Uncle Barry. A memory that I thought of many times long before he even got sick. Being the first niece in the family your Aunts and Uncles would spoil you in many different ways. Often I would remember coming to your house for sleep overs, we would do all kinds of things. I remember once I came to your appartment(on 81st ish ave) and it was a bright sunny day. You were sitting at the kitchen table, and Uncle Barry and I were making you breakfast. This was the first time I learned to make scrambled eggs. We would mix the eggs and milk in a bowl and pour it into the frying pan and with a plastic spatula (so I wouldn't wreck the pan coating) Move like a clock. From the 12 to 6 and 3 to 9 and so on till your eggs were cooked. Alomost every time I make scrambled eggs, and I make them the way Uncle Barry taught me.

Sorry we couldn't be there.

with much thoughts, love and support, Janna and Kevin.

Dear Cyndie,Zach and Molly,

We were so sad to hear of your loss.Barry was such a big gentle bear of a man. Dear Cyndie, Zachary and Molly,

We wish to express our sincere condolences with the passing of your husband and father Barry.

May God comfort you with the knowledge, that he is no longer suffering. Our prayers are for you and the family.

We have the fondest memories of Barry, when we visited with "oma" as he called my sister Janny.

His love for Cyndie and the children came through in everything Barry did and said. His skills in preparing a gourmet dinner as well sailing his ship were amazing.

We were fortunate in knowing such a great husband, father, son-in-law and friend.

With our deepest love,

Leny, Henry Lammers and children

I always knew Barry as "Uncle Barry" rather than "my dads (Richard Grove) cousin". I will fondly remember him through his namesake, Barrybear, the bear he gave me at 3 months old, and his Grover voice reading me "the monster at the end of this book". Through these, and everyone elses memories, Barry lives on. He is much loved.

I am sad that Barry has passed on.

He was more than a cousin, he was a friend and I will

miss him very much. We, bicycled out to Lake Erie

together as boys; he shot me with a pellet gun - maybe

after I shot him first - we teased about that for

years; we went to high school together; in his dad's

car we chased girls together; we shared an art studio

in Hamilton; we lived in Banff together; we visited

from time to time when I lived in Calgary and he lived

in Edmonton, we went to Victoria together; we stayed

in touch when he sailed the Caribbean seas with his

family for a year; I visited a couple of months ago in

Edmonton and we talked just a couple of days ago. He

may be out of sight, but never out of mind. I will

remember all of the stories, troubles and happy times

we had together.

The saddest part is that he will be so missed by Cyndie, Zack

and Molly.

Stop and smell the roses.

Families move and drift apart over time. When Barry moved to Edmonton from Hamilton, Ontario, a large extended family remained. Cyndie, Zack and Molly, please remember, that though we have not had the pleasure of knowing you, you can still consider all those cousins in Ontario, as your family.

What a beautiful tribute to Barry......although I am far away you have been in my thoughts and prayers. Barry was so proud of his family and loved you so much. I know the love and memories you have will sustain you in the coming days. I certainly have great family memories. Distance did not allow us to see each other often but were always close and had such fun when we were able to be together. Growing up in a big happy family we loved it when we had a "cousin party". And still do! As we got older we could be a silly as when were were kids and all of us have such wonderful shared remembrances. Some of our best memories are holidays and of course the "cottage". I am happy my last time with Barry was at the cottage last summer. It really was a special day. I will get to those mountains soon so that we can share them. I will miss those big Bear Hugs and our chats on the phone.

love Marilyn

Cyndie

Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this difficult time.

Barry was such a special person, even on his rough days, you could always see his smile, you knew he wasn't feeling well, but he would never let on.

He was a beautiful person who inspired all.

My thoughts are with you
