I used to watch Dr. Creep as a kid growing up in Huber Heights, Ohio. Some of my fondest memories are of watching horror films hosted by Dr. creep and coming home from school and watching Clubhouse 22. I feel as though I've lost a friend and a part of my youth. What a legacy, to know that you are so fondly remembered by a generation. Although I'm long gone from Ohio, Dr. Creep won't be far from my heart. Rip my friend...

I have always been into Horror and Sci-Fi films and when I was around 5 or 6 my brother returned from school after a field trip to the old Kettering Theater with Transformers in hand (a prize he won) and he was telling me about meeting DR. CREEP. He could care less that Santa or McGruff The Crime Dog was there, it was all about the Horror Host. After talking about Dr. Creep for some time, our Mom let us stay up that weekend and watch our first episode of Shock Theater and we were both hooked. Years had passed and Shock Theater had went off the air, but the void was filled again when in 1999 "The New Shock Theater" hit bringing Dr. Creep back to to TV. Andy Copp and Rick Martin were the guys behind this and after becoming friends with them, I became friends with Dr. Creep as well! It's odd, I have met many Hollywood Stars/Wrestlers/Rock Stars in my time but Dr. Creep was the only one that made me feel like a kid all over again. And I got to know not only the character Dr. Creep, but I also got to know the man, Barry Hobart. I wish Barry and I would have been able work on some of the ideas we had, but his health was in decline and we never did get to work on another rebirth of his show. I am honored to have worked with him on his DVD releases and Horrorama (Charity Event,) and seeing the smile that they brought to his face was an absolute privilege. I will miss Barry a lot but I will always remember his friendship and the inspiration he instilled in me, making me the creative person I am today. Love and Miss you my friend.

R.I.P., Barry/Dr. Creep. You not only inspired a love for classic horror films but, by example, showed us all the importance of serving others. Your selfless acts of kindness are as much your legacy as the black and white make-up and top hat. Thank you for your amazing contributions of time, talent and compassion.

booooohahhhaaaha! dr. creep was a staple for my tween and teen years. malcom, duffy the dog, and dr. creep gave me something to look forward to every afternoon and something creepy to watch that made my skin crawl once a week.
it was a sad day when the creeper ended his shows. i remember him at events, whether the jerry lewis telethon or an egg hunt, he was there helping.
it is a sad day to find the world has lost one of its earth bound angels.

What a good guy. I too was a kid in the 70's and couldn't wait to see "clubhouse 22" after school. I also loved "Shock Theater." Dr. Creep was the reason why I liked horror movies at all. They were scary but not too scary for us kids. He will be sorely missed. Rest in Peace Mr. Hobart. Say hello to my son for me..

I was very sad to hear of Barry Hobart's passing. I grew up with Shock Theatre and Dr. Creep. Barry was a warm and caring man with a true heart of gold. I watched his TV show almost every weekend in my childhood years and had the pleasure of talking to him through the past sixteen years.
His dedication and devotion to charity will forever be remembered . His laugh never forgotten. He was a true legend and legends live forever. I am thankful to have known such a good man. God Bless Barry and his family.

When I first moved to Dayton in 1975, I was sad and missing my hometown, family, and friends. Then one day I happened to see Dr. Creep on TV and nearly fell on the floor laughing. Here at last was someone I could relate to! I was hooked and became a devoted fan. Dr. Creep, you had me at "hoo-ha-ha"! Thank you for the fun as well as for all your kindness and good works for the people of Dayton. Well done, good doctor.

I am one of the kids who grew up watching Dr. Creep on Clubhouse 22 and was a HUGE fan of Shock Theatre and Saturday Night Dead.
I knew Barry back in the early 80's. He did an MDA benefit at the old RoadRunner Lounge in Beavercreek, where my husband was in the house band. We became friends, and he would often come out and keep me company while Fred was on stage. I think he felt bad that I'd be sitting there alone. He was such a kind, gentle soul. And a tremendous dancer, too. People would ask him for autographs, and women would cut in when he was dancing and he was always so gracious. One of my very favorite memories was throwing a party for friends and the crew of the Roadrunner. Barry accepted our invitation. The party started after closing one Saturday night and lasted until early Sunday morning. As we were walking our guests out, the neighbors were leaving for church and found "Dr. Creep's Mobile Mortuary" parked in our front yard. Priceless.
To his family, I am so sorry for your loss. Know that Dr. Creep is one of the area's most beloved icons. He was a wonderful person and will be sorely missed. Love and prayers coming your way.

I grew up in a time when there were no cellphones or computers, and the family had one television. If you wanted to see a holiday special or a late nite horror show, you had to be in front of the television when the show aired or you didn't get to see it. In my youth,I joined the military and was stationed in Ohio. I soon discovered that a host called DR. Creep had a late nite show. I was hooked from then on. Staying up late to watch the show was like being a kid again.I really looked forward to seeing the show each week. Thanks Barry for giving me back a little bit of my childhood. Your kindness and charitable work will always give you a special place in everyones' heart. God bless you. You may be gone, but you will never be forgotten.

As a kid, I remember going to bed when the whole family did, and then after everyone else was asleep, my brother and I would sneak into the family room and watch Shock Theater. Those were some good times. We also watched Clubhouse 22. For the family of "Dr. Creep," you should know that he was loved by just about every kid growing up in the Miami Valley during the 70's & 80's. He will be missed and remembered always.

As a teenager, I watched the first Shock Theater which aired on January 1, 1972. I immediately wrote the good Dr. a letter, and he was nice enough to read it during the following week's broadcast. Needless to say, I was a fan for life after that. In a twist of fate, I worked briefly in 1981 with Barry at WKEF, Channel 22. All the good work you've done Barry won't soon be forgotten!

I was sad to see the posting on a friend's Facebook that Dr. Creep had passed away. I've been living away from Ohio for several years and this was the first I'd heard of him in quite awhile. A ton of childhood memories came flooding back from countless afternoons spent watching Clubhouse 22 with him and Duffy the Dog. He had such a kind heart and did amazing work with charities over the years. He touched so many lives in so many ways. He will be greatly missed, especially for his trademark laugh.
Godspeed, Dr. Creep.
Sending prayers to his family and friends for the loss they have experienced.

I was in the 3rd grade back in the mid 70's when I had a chance to be in the audience of Clubhouse 22, Dr. Creep sat next to me, I was a bit scared with his makeup and costume but I remember him being nice, years later when I met him again through DATV, he was such a delight, he was always willing to help DATV out and always had a smile on his face! My thoughts are with his family and all those that knew him either by friend or by Television. The Miami Valley lost an Icon.

As a child Dr. Creep was my gateway into fun schlock and scary movies. The local entertainment was also a bonding experience with my parents. During the week I hung out on the couch with my mom to watch Clubhouse 22, and on Saturdays I watched Shock Theater with my dad. In 1996 I got to meet Creep at a radio benefit. He lived up to all of my expectations and we remained friends every since. He was a great guy and will be missed.

First and foremost I would like to pay my respects to Barry's family. I am a 36 year old man and I can remember Barry "Dr. Creep" from back in the early 80's watching t.v. with my older brother. I also remember seeing Dr Creep at the Downtown Dayton parades and he profoundly impacted my life. Till this day I am a horror movie lover and those time are vivid in my mind today. When Barry passed I called my brother in Shreveport LA to inform him of Barry's passing. As a result of those experiences I have introduced my son and wife to horror flicks and we enjoy just like shock Theatre. R.I.P Dr. Creep, we love you!

To the family of Barry "Dr. Creep" Hobart,
Your loved one gave many hours of joyous entertainment to many faithful "Shock Theatre" viewers, including this one. It was a pleasure to see Dr. Creep at Foy's last October, not only the Creepster but his son, Dr. Creep "II", helping out Dad and keeping the tradition going. It's for sure that Dr. Creep would give a hearty "Hoo-hah-hah-hah-hah-hah-haaa" of approval from Heaven if Creep II continues on, perhaps even re-starting the cable show. Many blessings to the Hobart family and thanks to Barry for Dr. Creep and the gift of laughter.
