I was a student in his seventh grade social studies class at Lenape Junior HS when he announced that he would be leaving us to try out for a professional baseball team. We all gathered around him to get his autograph, and I still have it in one of my scrapbooks. On picture day that year, I was all dressed up for the occasion. He looked down at me and called me a name that no one had ever used for me. He called me, "Eric the stud." I had no idea what a stud was! But once I found out, I was grateful. For the record: I went on to spend almost forty years as a teacher of high school English Language Arts. All reflective teachers know that we carry within us the best teachers from our own pasts. Mr. Houser was one of those for me.

Condolences to the family as Barry passed away.
I have known hi for many years having first met him when he was in 9th grade.
He was an athlete, a scholar and a friend. It was my good fortune to be his teacher and coach and to help guide him to West Chester. In later years he distinguished himself as an outstanding teacher, assistant principal and middle school principal. He was especially proud of his wife and loving to her
her his children and grand children. If you could sum up my feelings about him I would say well done. He will be missed.

Scott, so sorry to hear of Barry's passing. I have many memories of you and your family. Especially your mom and dad and your dad saying ("O Charlotte leave the boys alone"). Barry was a little older than us but I do remember him and what great athlete he was. May he rest in peace. A life well lived.

Mr. And Mrs. Houser were and are one of my most favorite patients ever to have worked with at the ENT I used to work at. Both of them were so caring and kind and always asked my kids. Barry was a sweet soul, my love and prayers go out to Ann and his kids and grandkids. Much love to all of you.

To Ann and family-Nance and I will have you and the family in our thoughts and prayers. Barry and I spent many years car pooling to Mechanicsburg. Enjoyed attending Philly and Orioles games. Enjoyed your company at our annual pig roasts. Was so fortunate to reconnect the last few months. Barry was an awesome person who I was fortunate to call my friend. Fond memories

Mr Houser was truly one of the most inspiring educators I have ever known. He made a profound difference not only in my sons lives but in our families lives as well. I will always remember him helping Cory rake leaves for detention at Lemoyne Middle school. Rest In Peace. My prayers are with your family.

Very sad to hear of Barry's passing. My Condolences go out to His wife and family. Barry was a friend early on though sports. Competitors through Jr. high and H.S. even into college and twilight ball. He was always a great challenge and friend. I always had a great respect for Barry both on and off the field as we both entered the field of education. I will miss Him.
