Barry Kemper Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 18, 2025.
Barry Lynn Kemper, 70, of Belton TX, went to be with his Lord and Savior on July 15, 2025. He was a retired teacher and coach from the Round Rock and Salado school districts and was employed for many years as a member of the Round Rock Express MLB affiliate. He treasured the opportunity to be a mentor to many young people. Barry loved the Lord, first and foremost. He was also an avid sports fan, collector, and enjoyed family legacy research.

Barry was born at Shaw AFB in Sumter, South Carolina. He was a graduate of Choctaw High School in Choctaw OK and held degrees from Baptist Bible College in Springfield MO and the University of Central Oklahoma. He was also an exceptional college baseball player at BBC. Barry continued his education throughout his life, with studies at Mission University and Liberty University.

He is survived by a daughter, Amanda Sanchez, step-sons Travis and Shane Arthurs, and six siblings: a sister, Gail Stalheim of Florence SC, brothers Bruce Kemper of Eatonville WA, Donald Kemper of Everett WA, David (Helena) Kemper of Myrtle Beach SC, Timothy (Mary) Kemper of Murrells Inlet SC, Jeffrey Kemper of Florence SC in addition to numerous nieces and nephews. Barry was preceded in death by a son, Zachary Evan Kemper, father Sydney Bertram Kemper, and mother Vivian McClure Kemper.

A local memorial service will be held at 6 pm on Sunday, July 20th at Brushy Creek Baptist Church at Norman's Crossing in Hutto TX, with visitation beginning at 5 pm.

Barry was a true friend to so many. Our friendship began through the greatest game in the world - baseball. We worked together at Round Rock baseball games where he was the scoreboard operator for many years. He was great at that, and great at being a good friend. We´re all saddened by his loss, but the memories we shared will live forever.
God bless you, "BK Broiler" - we´ll meet again, and talk some baseball.

A good friend and fellow work companion at Round Rock. I will miss our conversations at work and our telephone calls to each other. I know you were suffering and in a lot of pain so I am so glad you are no longer going through these times as you rest in the loving arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. You will be missed by many.
Thank you for your friendship. May you rest in peace.

Dear Friend,

I am struggling with this news today. As I reflect on the many days we spent chatting by the copy machine, I can´t help but remember how much I enjoyed our conversations and your friendship. You brought a gentle presence into the lives of so many, and I am truly blessed to be one of them.

I am praying for your family as they seek understanding and peace. May God be with all of us who cared for you so deeply. You will be missed my friend... And I look forward to the day when we get to see you again.

With love and remembrance,
Jami Fischer - Salado Jr High

I really enjoyed teaching with Barry at Salado Jr. High. He was a dedicated educator. His students truly got an A+ education especially in Texas history. He was also a strong Christian. Rest peacefully my friend.
