Mr Lavery was an incredible person in both hi´s teaching and how he lived his life, he was my portfolio advisor as well as the photojournalism teacher! Everyday he taught us not only the lesson and tools we need as photographers, but he always shared with us his wisdom of his Zen Buddhism, on how to create a more loving world (Which I still try to use everyday!). When I was pregnant with my Udaughter I went to the art institute of Pittsburgh to introduce him to my husband and my future daughter, i was great to see him after so many years have passed! Today I raise a cup of water to you Barry, wherever you are it would definitely be beautiful world, of that I have no doubt!

Mr. Lavery was my favorite teacher. He taught me about the zone system of Ansel Adams. It was the most useful class I had there.
