Barry D. Roysdon, Sr.

Barry Douglas Roysdon, Sr. age 73 of Reisterstown, MD, loving father of Barry Jr. (Stacey) and Andy (Maryclaire); devoted grandfather of Tyler, Ayden, Jamison, Teddy and Jack, died peacefully on July 27, 2024. Born on July 7, 1951 in Kansas City, MO to Richard and MaryAllan (Slattery), Barry moved as a child to Baltimore County, graduating from St. Paul's School in 1969.

Barry was fortunate to pursue two professions in his life. He and his brother Ryan opened and ran three successful locations of their cheese shop and deli. The first two locations were on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. The third location was one of the original establishments in Baltimore's Harbor Place. While living on the Eastern Shore, Barry developed a lasting appreciation of the Chesapeake Bay and its natural beauty.

Later, Barry found a second vocation, returning to school to become a therapist. He earned both his undergraduate degree and a Master of Social Work from the University of Maryland. Barry found great contentment and fulfillment in helping others through his counseling practice in Towson, MD. In retirement, he spent much of his time supporting the Lighthouse, a sober living recovery house in Bel Air, MD.

Barry is also survived by his brother Allan and his ex-wife Carole (Anderson), whom he remained close friends with. As a final act of service, in support of medical education and research, Barry donated his body to Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. To honor Barry's wishes, a Celebration of Life will be held for family and friends at a future date and time.
