R.I.P

Dear Sandy, Alex & MacKenzie: My deepest sympathy - my heart aches for the loss of such a wonderful person. You must be very proud of the great man (your dad) Barry was. His gentle, caring nature and love for kids was remarkable, and his spirit will live on through the many lifes that he has touched. He knew the importance of family and his legacy will continue in our many "family" get togethers to come. To know Barry - was to know Sunshine.

It was with great sadness that I heard about the passing of such a truly wonderful person, Barry. I was immediately thrown back to my wonderful days in Regina and many friends who took this Maritimer under their wing including Barry! He always had a smile and he understood the importance of living life to the fullest. I know he was so very dedicated to his family and his love for you was immense. Wendy is right - Barry was one of the great ones!

You have been in my thoughts and prayers everyday since I heard the sad news. I'm so sorry for your loss and so sorry I wasn't able to be there for the service in celebration of Barry's life. (FYI, on Friday evening at 7:00, I said a prayer for the three of you and said my own goodbyes to Barry.) Barry was one of the good ones! He will truly be missed by his friends and family.

I was saddended by your loss, please know I am thinking of you and your family at this time.

Barry's life motto "Family First" was evident in all he did for the girls; bringing Mackenzie her gym clothes to class, driving students for field trips, attending volleyball or basketball games or bringing the girls lunch. No matter what he did he had a smile to share and kind words to keep you going.

While I taught Mackenzie, I always looked forward to his wave or his head poking in the classroom to say hello to Mackenzie and her friends as he passed the Grade 6/7 classroom each day on his way to pick up the daycare children from the Sunshine Classroom next door.

Barry's spirit will live on in the laugh of Alex, the heart of Mackenzie and the love you all have for him.

God bless and be comforted in knowing you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Our Dear Sandy, Mackenzie and Alex:

We can't even imagine the emptiness you all must be feeling now. Our hearts ache with yours. Barry was truly a great man, and as you said,always family first. I remember all of the times that Barry would drive all the way out to the farm, just to pick up Joshua, so that Josh could have a play date with Mackenzie. To go out of his way , was never a big deal.

We will miss him so much.

Joshua and Thomas will miss a wonderful and fun uncle. Brent will miss a brother who was a good friend and a great family man. And as for myself, I will miss a kind and gentle brother-in-law.

Barry will always be in our hearts and prayers.

Sandy, Marlise and I were so sorry to hear of Barry passing away. Even though I was only able to see him once a year or so I still thought and think of him often...he was still a good friend and I will miss him greatly...you and he always made us feel welcome whenever we called and we will always be grateful...I was able to get flights in time to attend the service you are having in his honour, so I look forward to the chance to celebrate his life with you...Marlise and I wish you, your girls, and your family our deepest sympathy...Perry and Marlise Leibel.

Sandra, Mackenzie and Alexandra, Barry will be truly missed he was not only a brother-in-law and Uncle but a good friend. Uncle Barry always had a hug for us and a loonie in his pocket for a goal. He will be watching and taking care of us from heaven. Our prayers to you all.

I haven't seen or talked to Barry since high school, I am very happy to hear of the man he turned out to be. Even though I am not surprised because in elementry school he chased away a bully that was picking on me. Which goes to show you that even back then he had a big heart. I'm grateful to have known him. We would like to send our condolences to his wife and family.

Barry was a wonderful husband and father, the love that he showed to his family so true and beautiful. He always tried to be positive, even though he suffered many days of illness over the years. He will truly be missed by family and friends as he had a great impact on our lives. I feel blessed to have known him and blessed to have been considered a friend.
