Major Basilio Kypuros Jr., USAF (Ret)

On April 4th, 2017, Major Basilio Kypuros Jr.-USAF Retired was surrounded by his wife, children, and grandchildren as he made his flight home to the Kingdom of Heaven. Basilio was born in San Antonio, Texas to Olga Riojas and Basilio Kypuros on July 23, 1938. He served in Vietnam and received numerous commendations and awards throughout his career before retiring in 1979. After his military retirement, he completed a 20-year career with the United States Postal Service. Upon full retirement, he was a loving husband, father, "Papa Basi", brother, "Tio Basi", "Primo" who remained faithful to God and the Roman Catholic teachings, and spent his time loving and helping everyone in his path. Basilio is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Maria del Socorro Kypuros, along with his children Maria Kypuros Howard and her husband Christopher Howard, Basilio Anthony Kypuros and his wife Lynne Lowry Kypuros, and his son Richard Reimundo Kypuros. He leaves his legacy to seven grandchildren: Patrick Howard, Matthew Howard, Curtis Howard, Nina Howard, Katie Kypuros, Emma Kypuros and Guy Kypuros; along with his loving sisters Olga Kypuros, Lindy Aguilar (and husband Juilo) and his brother Hector Kypuros (and wife Janie) and numerous beloved nephews, nieces, cousins, aunts, uncles, extended family and friends. He will be dearly missed by all who were touched by his love, care, kindness, thoughtfulness, and generosity. Please visit the Porter Loring Downtown San Antonio website for Rosary and Mass details. On April 18th at 2:30PM, Basilio will be laid to rest at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
