Beatrice Hudson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 17, 2006.
HUDSON, Beatrice Margery (nee Graham) Bea Hudson, born 9 December 1915, died peacefully on 31 May 2006. Bea was predeceased by her dear husband, Percival A. Hudson and her parents, Margaret and Walter Graham. She will be deeply missed by daughter Judy (Francisco Valenzuela) of Winnipeg and son David (Margaret Linton) of Ottawa, grandchildren Janet Beattie Ramsey (Scott) of Texas, Katharine, Paul, Mark and Chris Hudson, and great-grandchildren Ander, Amaya and Christopher Ramsey. She is survived by sisters Eva Chambers of Pennsylvania, Margaret Gour (Frank) of Ottawa, brother Don Graham (Ellen) of Florida, and brother-in-law Graham Hudson (Thyra) of Ottawa, as well as numerous nieces and nephews to whom "Auntie Bea" was known as the "pie aunt" as well as for her wonderful rolled oat cookies. Bea lived in Ottawa for most of her life and had the joy of keeping in touch with school friends (Grant Consolidated and Nepean High), "the girls" from the 1936 mini-Census, neighbours from Kingsview Park and The Watergate, and friends from MacKay United Church (including the UCW, recorder and crafts groups). She made new friends at The Edinburgh after moving there last December, and was glad to be close to the Rideau River and the neighbourhoods she had enjoyed for sixty years. Summers spent on the Big Rideau in her youth had an indelible impact, and she was happy to know the family connection with beloved "Loon Island" will continue. Her handiwork, including hooking, knitting, cross-stitching and sewing, can be found brightening the homes of family and acquaintances. We will remember her for her creativity, hard work, sense of humour, and self-effacing appreciation of family and friends. Hers was a life lived with humility and simplicity. A memorial service will be held at MacKay United Church on Friday, 23 June at 2 p.m., reception following. In memoriam donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
