He is missed.

We will miss Ben greatly. He and Linda were such great neighbors to my Mom. I truly enjoyed our visits over the years. Our thoughts and prayers are with Linda and all of the wonderful family.

We'll all miss Ben immensely. He was a trusted friend for over 50 years. Watched
get attacked on TV at the Freedom Tower while covering the downfall of the Batista regime. His courage was amazing.

Ben along with his family, Linda, Scott, Kurt, and Beth was an outstanding neighbor and friend. He was always willing to do anything to help as a neighbor and friend. Ben was a wonderful conversationalist and able to discuss with intellect any topic of conversation. He was a devoted father and husband. We will certainly miss seeing Ben walking around our neighborhood and conversing with him on so many topics. Our thoughts and prayers to Linda, Beth, Kurt and Scott and their families.

Ben was my brother-in-law. I remember him so well as he looked on the first picture.With family members,I would sit around the table, in amazement, at his journalism stories, the amazing things he had covered that day, told so casually.
He was charm.
He was intelligence.

Ben Silver was a mentor and a friend who inspired my love of journalism. He was an excellent teacher, who recognized potential in his students and encouraged them to follow their dreams.

When Ben was at ASU in the early 1980's he put me to work in the radio lab, and gave me an opportunity to teach for the first time. Today I work at the Cronkite School and am enrolled in the Ph.D. program there. Ben left a lasting impression on me, and countless other aspiring journalists.

I remember Ben's stories about CBS, and his belief that journalism is important work. Years after I first met Ben, I ran into him at KCNC in Denver, where he had come to do research. He remembered me, and I felt honored to be his friend.

Thank You, Ben. I will never forget you.

Hey Ben, you made a big difference in my life.

You gave me path to follow, kept me in school, got me my first job and put me together with some very wonderful guys who I still work with today.

The night I heard that you had moved on, I was working at ASU in the Cronkite building on a new TV news program with those same guys.

Ben, that's some kind of poetic.

You know I'm appreciative and thankful for all your help.

We had the honor of knowing Ben (Pop Pops) through Beth, Spencer and "the girls". What a gem of a man--a treasured soul. We were so lucky to have been able to exchange hugs and words with such a lovely man during the past six years. He is part of an exquisite family that we treasure deeply. I grew up in Mesa, Arizona with the Silvers living on the next street, so it is with a heavy heart that I extend my condolences to the entire Silver family. Scott and Kurt were my best friends growing up, so I spent a lot of time at the Silvers over the years. I always enjoyed my discussions with Ben about what was going on in the world. He was a great father, husband and friend and will be missed greatly.

To the Silver family: I am deeply sorry for your loss. Although I did not know Ben personally, it is obvious by others comments how caring of a person he was. Mr. Silver was one of my more memorable professors at ASU, and was always energetic and so excited about journalism. He had many tales to tell, and we all benefited from his extensive background knowledge and experience. He and I also shared the "Iowa" connection, so I was saddened to hear of his passing. No doubt he'll have his microphone out at the pearly gates!

Linda, thank you and Ben for all of your support of Iowa JMC. It is an honor to award Ben's broadcasting scholarship each year. Your support for our Adler Building will always be remembered. Our thoughts are with you and the family.

Professor Silver was my most memorable professor during my time at ASU. He challenged me to be a better journalist and took a personal interest in my work. It was a privilege to study under him.

Ben was a compassionate broadcast journalist, a dedicated teacher and a wonderful colleague. His office was next to mine when I came aboard as a new Cronkite School professor and I cherish his warmth and kindness. My heart goes out to you Linda and family.

What an amazing man. I recognize Ben's work from his pictures. Spencer and Beth, you should be so proud as a family to have had such a talented and loving man as a father. Our prayers are with you.

Ben was a pioneer and leader in broadcast education. Here at the Cronkite School, we will miss him greatly.

I know it was his time, but he will be missed; even by those of us who only knew him through his kids. He was an inspiration to two of most important people in my life: his daughter Beth and her husband Spencer. God Speed.

Ben beame a mentor to me when he was teaching on sabbatical at Iowa. We kept in touch after I moved to Arizona. He was an extremely kind an empathetic person, but also encouraged you to be your best. He will be missed.

Ben was an extraordinarily popular professor here at Arizona State University's Walter Cronkite School of Journalism for nearly 20 years. Of course Ben worked with Walter at CBS News, and then connected with him regularly here at ASU. Many of our school's best and brightest remember Ben as their favorite and most influential professor. He had an amazing impact on many young lives, and continued that positive influence on today's students through his generous scholarship. Our thoughts and prayers are with Linda and the entire Silver family.
