Benjamin Buckley Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 31, 2019.
BUCKLEY Benjamin F., III, passed away on January 25, 2019. Ben was born September 22, 1924 to Beulah and B.F. Buckley, Jr. Ben primarily lived in Lexington, KY, later splitting time between Lexington and Naples, FL. During World War II he proudly served in the US Navy aboard the USS LCT-736 in the Pacific. He returned to graduate from the University of Kentucky where he was a member of the SAE fraternity. Ben was the former owner of Buckley & Co. Insurance and an active real estate investor. As an avid golfer Ben was a long-time member of Lexington Country Club and Audubon Country Club in Naples. He also enjoyed fishing at Lake Cumberland and in Florida. Ben is survived by his sister Betty Buckley Larkin and his loving wife of 51 years, Roberta Ryburn Buckley. He was preceded in death by his first wife Rosemary Dummit Buckley. He was blessed by his five children Biff Buckley (Elizabeth), Barbara Webster (Neil), Lauren Williams (Steve), Elizabeth Richardson (Ed) and Thomas Buckley (Mellissa). Ben also loved his 19 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. Faith was the first priority in his life supported by his two churches; Crestwood Christian Church in Lexington, where he was a founding member, and Naples United Church of Christ. Expressions of condolence may be sent to either church in his memory. Ben's family would like to thank those who cared for him during the last months of his life; Trayce Long, Patricia White, Rhonda Clark, and the staff at The Country Place of Lexington. Family will receive friends on Sat., Feb. 2nd from 10am - 11am at Crestwood Christian Church located at 1882 Bellefonte Drive, Lexington. Funeral service will commence at 11am with Rev. Kory Wilcoxson & Rev. Trish Standifur. A reception will be held at the church immediately following the service. Milward Funeral Directors have been entrusted with Mr. Buckley's arrangements. We feel a deep loss, but know that the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus, our Lord. I have fond memories of golf with Ben, and our travel with Roberta and Ben. He was one of our best friends, and we know that he climbed the ladder of life and stepped off at the top, into heaven and the Lord's arms. Bob & Marianne Sander
